1-Hamilton's untimely penalties
2-Mercer's shorthanded breakaway
3-Haula takes over where Zach left off
4-Bratt's shots are becoming more predictable and not getting them off fast enough
5-Coach Ruff might be overstaying his tenure again
Someone who played pretty bad tonight was Siegenthaler. We really need him to be the rock he was last season.

if we played the exact same game as we did tonight every game, we'd be a 120 point team.

now, the goaltending on the other hand....
Wait a minute - We have played like this on most games since December and have lost the majority of them.

That's the problem.

Dougie didn't play well but Bahl had two bonehead plays on the same goal. With Dougie, he provides more good than bad. Bahl is all bad.
I'm just about done with Bahl

At least this season.

And I've actually been a huge fan and supporter of his, after thinking he was gonna be a big nothing after his first couple of call ups to the NHL.

But he may just be another Santini.

I've always been skeptical that he'd ever be a long term top-6 defenseman here, if not anywhere in the league.

We're not making playoffs, are we?
I wouldn’t bet on it . I seriously would not place a net on us making it . If we do , it’s squeeking In with the #2 WC spot. Fitz needs to make a trade . Like now. Before the TDL or it will be too late and we will end up with the 3rd or 4th option in players because we waited too long and panicked.

BLUES HAD 4 HIGH DANGER CHANCES. 4!!!!
Goals 2 and 3 were not good.

Goal 2 probably hits a goalie more often than not (not always, it wasn't the worst goal) and goal 3 was a pretty bad stinker that he was square to and it went through his pads.

If anything what you’re saying is literally MORE of a reason to change things up. You’re doing yourself no favors by wasting talented players and forcing your stars to carry the entire team because the depth is cold. We know that those guys perform (and perform better than Haula might I add) when they’re with our top guys.

Yeah that is a way to look at it. Right.

I guess im frustrated with Haula with his zero lack of finish but... He is playing better than sharanvoich, and to a degree Mercer in this last stretch of games. So i get the vitriol towards Haula... With no goals. But its not distributed to those guys when they also playing bad.

It seems to only goes to Haula, Boqvist, Mcleod, wood or Holtz, Tatar depending on the game.

Mercer has been very meh for 10 games and Rango has disappeared totally.

Changing it up might tweak it. But if they cant dominate or shine over the 3rd line competition why do they get looks above.... It doesnt bode well either.

Tatar has been a good complementary player for the top 6, and he has decent chemistry with both Hischier and Hughes. He's fine in that role.

What I object to is having him in the bumper role on the PP. He's not the guy for that.

To me he’s very clearly the 4th best forward on the team (yes he’s better than Palat and it’s not even really a debate to me). I agree on the PP thing. I also don’t really know what the solution is while Nate’s out. Tried Mercer who wasn’t really all that great at it. That’s not what Palat’s role was in TB so I’m not sure how he’d be at it. I’m generally not the biggest Yegor PP fan but maybe as the bumper he’d work

Bahl is making mistakes now that he wasn't making a month ago. Why is his play regressing?

It's a lot harder to play games when you're looking over your shoulder or getting long stretches of inactivity.

Hamilton isn't Rod Langway or Alex Pietrangelo where he is capable of playing half the game (even if the Devils are paying him as such).

With the forwards the situation is even more drastic.

Did anyone seriously believe the Devils were winning headed into the third period tonight?

If he can’t do anything this season with the injuries on the blue line giving an opportunity, then he doesn’t have a future here. Because there are two top-5 picks coming in. While I’m sure they will let Severson and/or Graves walk, I’m sure they will probably look for cheap vet as a safety net.

Uhhhhh, yeah, I believed we were gonna win heading into the 3rd period, yes.

But as soon as Schmid allowed that weak one, I actually figured it wouldn't be the last goal he allowed for the night.

It’s the same old story with this team, not finishing enough and brutal goals against, at this point I don’t think that’s ever changing we just happen to have a superstar who can make the difference some nights

Second place and dropping because they keep dropping games because of his coaching?
The problem is they are outplaying opponents, routinely getting more scoring chances. The players not converting them is going to be seen as an issue with the players. If they weren't generating shots and chances and overall looked like shit in these games then it's easier to blame the coaching.

I think the system works...although it certainly requires good goaltending which at times we are still not getting.

His refusal to do the easy obvious thing in the face of losing/adversity is just incredibly stupid. And he doesn't seem to offer much from an adjustment or tactical coaching standpoint.

What you say just sadly is not true. Lol.

You guys have so much faith in this garbage it's a hoot.

We gave them a few wide open looks and they cashed in. That's all it ever takes. 'How many' doesn't matter nearly as much as 'how good'.

Our goalie let a bad goal in. Binnington played well, and we also shot pucks into his crest, glove...bobbled our breakaways...

Are we going to feign outrage at every loss this season bc we 'deserved' to win?

Hit somebody. Don't give the puck away at the bluelines. Don't take stupid penalties. Make a save.

Then you'll win. You don't get crap for zone entries or time spent in the zone. We could do that with Jagr and Zubrus and still lose...it just looked alot uglier than this wonderful Disney Circus in ice we have right now.

They'll figure it out and we will start winning.

Somehow I think we'll eek out a win on Saturday, if not just a point.

It's getting to the point where 1 point is no longer good enough.

So Tatar is better than Palat now ? The same Palat that has been injured for almost the entire year? How do you come to that conclusion … The Palat that is a playoff machine and hero vs. continuous healthy scratched in the playoffs Tatar ? Very odd take there
