I get that the Fiala penalty was weak but it’s funny to see people blaming the refs for this one. After LA went up 2-0 the power play opportunities were 3-2 for us. After the Oilers went up 2-0 in the first two games the power play opportunities were a combined 9-1 for LA with us dominating play at even strength. Maybe LA should try to be better than 33% on their PK?

It also looked like LA got away with an elbow to Drai’s face right before their fourth goal. He doesn’t usually go down like that and that’s what gave them their odd man rush. Sportsnet didn’t show a good replay of it though.
Missed a high stick earlier by a Kings player against Bouchard.

Rewatching the highlights since I missed the 1st and want to see the goals Skinner gave up and the 1st one was weak but what the hell was Yamamoto doing just giving up on marking Vilardi having a controller disconnected moment (he should be benched next game) and then Nurse weak in front.

Five-hole on the 2nd goal. Not great but Desharnais got owned and that was a wide open prime scoring chance.

3rd goal. Not Campbell's fault. Great move by Kopitar after an egregious error by Nurse. Man did Nurse have a bad period based on the highlights.

All in all, I wouldn't say that any of them were awful goals, not even as bad as the Hyman goal that Korpisalo gave up, so I'd go back to Skinner for Game 5.
Campbell was great in relief and gave them a chance to win but he makes me nervous, very positionally unsound.

Only thing I can think of is that he is not doing what Woody has asked? Or he said something to Woody out of frustration. What else could it be? Baffling.

Yeah that is completely f****d up.

I think I figured it out. TMac played his 4th line only about 3-4 minutes as well so in the matchup game Kostin was sat.

That said Yamo was easily our worst most and ineffective forward who’s being pushed out of each game, and was one of the goats on the Kings first goal.

Kostin in with Yamo sitting as the 4th line didn’t see ice time would have made more sense to me.

Somehow the most encouraging thing about the game was that the Oilers finally didn't even attempt to take a post-whistle penalty. Maybe they've given up their revenge quest and will be satisfied with just winning the hockey games now.

Oilers took some belief from LA tonight. We've made them feel better than they should up until now.

Series is even on paper but the pressure has really shifted to LA imo

Really concerning that the Oilers can't bear down and play simple for 60 mins though.
La knows that played straight up they're outgunned.

People who complain about the refs should look at some of the stuff that's happened in other series. That Foligno "tripping" penalty was ridiculous.

Yeh, they were over doing it and were gifting LA PPs.

50 hits a game is nice but I am glad they changed that strategy.

Other than Hyman slashing Anderson during the play they were fairly disciplined.

The refs last nite were brought in to longate the series. LA beating us in a 4-1 series wouldn't have generated enough revenue. We won cuz Bettman stole one for us last nite

If by "stole one for us" you mean the refs called two penalties on the Kings in the 2nd and overall the PPs were 3-2 for the Oilers, then you (like many Kings fans and refs for that matter) have bought into the philosophy that the Oilers PP is almost like an automatic goal.

I mean how many teams could you give only 2 PPs to in a period when they are down 0-3 and that would be enough to tie it? Most teams would need 4-6 PPs to score 2 goals on the man advantage.

Maybe the Kings should: 1) play disciplined hockey (how many times have I heard that about the Oilers on ESPN/TBS), and 2) learn how to kill a penalty.

Quite frankly, after seeing it go up 3-0, I was ready for defeat. I didn't think we would come out of this with a win. Then we scored 3 in the 2nd, and then I saw hope. Then we tied it once again in the 3rd, and went into OT, which I was certain we'd lose, but then Hyman came in and scored that needed goal for himself and the team, and now the series is 2-2. Feels like we are still climbing out of a hole, but we just gotta take the momentum away from LA and keep pushing them.
