Guilty.
I've watched the original movie. Thought it was dumb but fun. Saw the original TV series... never could understand why they wanted to drag that movie out into a multiple year saga... but okay.
There was decent writing. JW was just entering his prime with Angel. Still think FireFly is his magnus opus but the Buffy universe was a something I give him credit for.
I just can't get into any of this stuff though. I mean, one of my favorite movies of all time is "the Crow". The sequels can all f*** off though. Just because there is a good idea, doesn't mean the entire project is good, worth it or even ok.
Buffy failed to a very smaller degree than Star Wars has... if that makes you feel better. I'll just never understand the emotion that is wrapped up in Buffy.
Hell my wife is a huge Supernatural fan. I kinda get that series too.. a bit. But I think TV is just the wrong form for these shows. They get drawn out entirely too long.

Here was a good video on Entropy I watched recently (the guy has lots of interesting vids) , it briefly talks about black holes at the end and might help you find more info after or close some misunderstanding of entropy you have. I always watch vids like this lol. Seen a well done one on time but can't seem to find it. Physics stuff is always so mind bending, but interesting to watch/read.

In concept, entropy should make sense. It's just when you get deeper into certain proccesses you can almost see nature trying to stick its middle finger out at entropy.
Veritasium is a fantastic channel! Listening to the videos it sounds an awful lot like Mark Rober whose a former NASA engineer. He's got his own channel so I wouldn't think that was him, just found their voices similar at times.
Would love to geek out on favorite science YT channels sometime. Been having a blast watching crazy stuff from styropyro and Nile (both Blue and Red) lately, but they're probably only new to me. Not really hard science channels though, more like infotainment.
Finding folks to follow for hard science is difficult. The best out there at this point that I know is Anton Petrov. He's got a new video every single day of the week and links peer reviewed articles to support each and every one of them. That's tight. Also... he's not taken a day off in the the freaking years I've been watching him. Seriously... not one.

In my experience, the overwhelming majority of engineers are rather oblivious outside their own specialty. The most ridiculous questions and/or concepts I ever get are from other disciplines

Yeah for me I typically go down a rabbit hole of random topics as pretty much anything scientific catches my attention (mainly psychology, physics, maths and AI/computing). Two good physics ones I came across were floatheadphysics (not regular postings but interesting topics on concepts) and Sabine Hossenfelder (frequent postings and talks about papers as well).
If you ever felt like longer content MIT and Stanford post their lectures on pretty much every class they have as well which is pretty awesome, although it can be overwhelming to choose a class lol.

MIT's engineering and computer science rabbit hole is a warren I've become rather comfortable slinking around in.
Stanford...I hadn't thought about before. I'm surprised I didn't stumble upon them when I was furiously looking at various philosophies 5 or so years ago. My diagnosis sent me for loop and I was really struggling to find a better way to view things and put things into perspective. Found most of what I needed rooted in the philosophies of the stoics... Marcus Aurelius' Meditations was almost therepeutic, as were many concepts discussed in eastern religions. Stanford's Philosophy department is supposed to be one of the strongest in the US. Their studies were referrenced in a bunch of stuff I was looking into, but I didn't even think to go look for lectures from them.

PBS SpaceTime is another really excellent physics explainer channel. He does a really good job of breaking down concepts without going too far into the math, which is my kryptonite. I've learned so much cool shit from that channel.
My dad was on Nova on PBS once. That's the closest claim to fame I have

Fun fact, Dan Carlin's voice is eerily similar to mine. One of my co-workers once asked me if I did the Hardcore History podcast, because I love history and they insisted I sounded exactly like him. This was the first time I had heard of it, but when I listened to it I had to admit that his voice and even his cadence when he speaks is almost a perfect match. If you've heard him speak, you've heard me.

So on Tuesday I go to urgent care because my wife was sick of me complaining about how bloated I've been for the last few weeks. I kept having weird pains and stuff and it wasn't going away, but I hate going to the doctor because I'm just worried they'll say go take some tums and charge me $300 for the privilege of getting this priceless knowledge from them 
So anyways the PA starts poking around and discovers my liver is "enlarged" so I have to go get blood work and ultrasound to just check it. Ends up leading to a CT scan and they found a large tumor
But the reason for this post is that the process behind getting care is so f***ing stupid I don't get it. The PA refers me to a cancer treatment place, they call me the next day and figure out they are out of network. But I can call them and request to have them put in-network. So I call up United and talk to their stupid CS person who schedules someone I can talk to and they are 2 weeks out! And then they'd be trying to help me schedule appointments after that! So I ended up calling the cancer center and had them send my referral to a different hospital that I knew was in network.
I talked to them last night and since they are 3.5 hours away they said they'd set me up with a "tele-health" thing where I can do my treatment and stuff at the hospital in my city but still be coordinated out of their cancer center - okay whatever. So then my local hospital calls me this morning and tells me that I can't proceed until I have a referral letter from my primary care physician. I don't even have a doctor because I just go to urgent care when my wife gets tired of me whining about being sick. So now I have to go find a doctor, try to get an appointment, and then get them to refer me to a place that already has all my scans and notes from the radiology doctors that read them. Like wtf? Is the scan that shows a giant tumor not good enough? You need a f***ing doctor's note attached??
It's so insane to me. I don't get it. Pissing me right off and it's only day 3. It's like they invented this process to stop people from getting seen.
It was similar with the CT scan - I had to go in after hours and they said they'd have to call my insurance to get permission before they could give the scan to me (even though it had 2 STAT! stamps on the order), I said screw it I'll just pay the $5k for it upfront - just give me the scan, and the lady said they couldn't do that because she couldn't bill me and the hospital billing place was out for the day. I ended up having to go to a different hospital that didn't check my insurance first and get it done there. What a stupid game this is turning out to be

Hey Moops, can you go back to the PA who orignally discovered your enlarged liver and ask them to sign off as your primary care physician? They are the one you went to for a "checkup". They are thy physician who referred you to a specialist. I know the last thing in the world anyone wants in a position like this is to have to fight with a f***ing insurance company on top of the fear and uncertainity regarding your diagnosis. I feel lucky to have had BlueCross/Blue Shield of Alaska. Everything they've tried to deny, my doctor has challenged on my behalf and won (before even letting me know it was an issue in most cases).
The only thing I have been completely denied is a prescription for a new drug. For some reason after starting chemo, I started getting hot flashes. Seriously, I just start sweating for no reason. It can happen when I'm freaking cold too, which is wierd and uncomfortable. Cancer docs sent me to an endocrinologist who couldn't find anything. However, he heard of a new drug that was developed to help women with hotflashes in menopause and figured... what the hell, let's see if it helps. Tried to write me a 30 day presecription but the insurance completely completely denied it on the grounds that I have two very large balls.
If you ever need someone to talk too, or just feel like venting... I'm here buddy, just send me a pm.

I am sorry for the bullshit you are going through right now. I know the last thing in the world anyone wants in a position like this is to have to fight with a f***ing insurance company on top of the fear and uncertainity regarding your diagnosis. I feel lucky to have had BlueCross/Blue Shield of Alaska. Everything they've tried to deny, my doctor has challenged on my behalf and won (before even letting me know it was an issue in most cases).

Cancer kinda helped me put to rest the ideo of a god for good. Now this may sound like a contradiction... but cancer also taught me to respect both the power of prayer and positive thoughts and you are definitely in my thoughts buddy.

If Peter Stastny had been born in Canada... would folks put him on the Mike Bossy level? Has he been shafted by not having his whole career in North America.
Just got done watching a "docu" on him and Anton's defection in '80. They both had 14 points in the same two games. Two brothers combining for 28 points in 48 hours, this was after they got to Quebec. I think it was their "rookie" seasons. Freaking unreal.
Have no idea who these folks are, just popped up in my suggestions but I thought it was well done...
Also... would you rather have 2025-26 Mikko Rantanen or 1976-77 Andre Dupont? The battle of the Mooseles begins...
