This is hilarious to me. At some point possession is 9/10ths of the law. Your post reminded me that I have a friend who borrowed (and never returned) my Red Alert 2 CDs for PC.

For me to ask them for them back at this point would be embarrassing for me.

Thanks, maybe he thinks I'm good enough friend to give it back, which I would absolutely do. I don't care about the game and I haven't played a Genesis game in like 3 years. So it's like 0.001% less clutter for me, but I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks he is being stupid AF. It's not like I even took it in the first place, he left it at my house...

Take a sledgehammer to the game and give it to him in a paper bag. Tell him oops I’m sorry.

You’ll never see him again - and you’re welcome.

So last month, I reconvened with one of my good childhood friends. First time I've seen him in ten years and had a great time. We talked about all the great things in the past as well as what we're doing nowadays. Good time. Well, we were on the topic of games and we both had a fun conversation of a random Sega Genesis game he left at my house like 15 or so years ago.

Well, I'm meeting him sometime next week and he texted me if I could bring that 10 dollar Genesis game back. FML. I'm totally fine to return it because it's his, but that is some big time respect points lost for asking for a 15+ year game. It sucks because I thought he was above that, but I guess people are...unique in their own way. What are you lots thoughts about this? It should not be bugging me, but it kind of is. The bloke is way more wealthy I am and if he was so desperate, it's on eBay for 20 bucks, but he might be one of those penny pinching rich blokes. I'm just glad I don't have that type of personality.

No idea lol. I never followed Rhapsody's story. For some reason I can't really get into a lot of those nerd metal bands anymore. I still like the music, don't get me wrong, but something seems off to me.
Meet up with your friend. Take the game. Place it on the table… and hammer it into 50 pieces.

I’m too drunk to realize my idea was taken 7 hours ago.

Day three of my marathon is tonight. In my 25 years of being a metalhead, I've never attempted anything like this. Here's my concert schedule:

8/29 - Lamb of God @ Red Rocks
8/30 - Riot
8/31 - Powerwolf + Unleash the Archers
9/1 - Day Off
9/2 - Nervosa + Lich King
9/3 - Fly to Atlanta
9/4-9/7 - ProgPower USA Festival

Ten days. Eight concerts. 36 bands. It's going to either be absolutely epic, or it's going to kill me. We'll see which one at the end of it.

How was Nervosa live?

I'm surprised you still have the game tbh, and ya definitely a weird request. The only thing I can think of is maybe there's some nostagia/sentimental value to him now that he knows where it is.

Hey buddy, I have no idea what he was thinking, but could it be that he just wants a larger rush of nostalgia after having reconnected with you and was simply hoping to relive those years a bit by replaying the game? I have no idea what game it was, so I have no clue it it is something he could easily order a new copy of or not. The Genesis is getting long in the tooth and I have no clue what the market is like for games on that system these days.

Kind of a weird request regardless, but since y'all just reconnected thought I'd try to give you a little more positive perspective.

Pretty damn sick. I'm a recent convert to them, so I didn't know a lot about their back catalogue, but damn do they know how to write a thrash riff. They didn't do a whole lot of crowd banter, just pretty much ran through a 75 minute set of neck breaking thrash and said goodnight.

No joke, with about 2.5 songs left on the very last band Saturday, I hit the wall hard. 0% battery, I just kind of slumped in my seat for the end of the set. I never imagined I would be thankful for a band I like that much NOT playing an encore. I spent every last ounce of my energy in that stretch.

It was 100% worth it, though. I couldn't have done it without the help of my dear friends, Aleve and No-Doz. Now if only I had a week off to recover from my week off.

Man, that is such a crazy schedule though. I both envy and pity you at the same time right now. *LOL* It'll be all envy in about 15 minutes though. I recover quickly. Hope you do too!

Impressed they managed to actually get this right (+ Hacks and Jean Smart). Figured they’d screw it all up after allowing The Bear to continue pretending it’s a comedy. How it manages to be in that category but an actual comedy in Bad Sisters (black comedy is under appreciated) was classed as a drama last year is a mystery

Am I wrong for liking the original Shogun more?
I felt they drew out this series a little bit, trying to get the arc over a set time they established. Then when they needed to wrap the season up, they wrapped up too quick. The pacing was just a tad off. Now I think the first season here was increible, so it is only a minor complaint. I do feel the original Shogun was paced better. I also really liked how in the OG version, the Japanese wasn't subtitled. Which made you empathize with Blackthrone more and understand his struggle and dilema.

Hey everyone. Greetings from a regular at the Sabres Board. I come in peace. First of all, maybe I should come here more often. I see people referencing Chistopher Lee's awesomeness and going on life threatening heavy metal tours. You feel like my sort of people.

Talking about tours ... I'm actually a Kiwi. Born and bred in New Zealand. At least I assume I was bred in New Zealand. Your parents don't tend to tell you exactly where the breeding part took place. But I digress. After yesrs of talking about it, a High School friend and I are doing a short US sports tour. He and I used to play NHL '99 and I'd always pick the Sabres, he'd pick the Avalanche. What do I remember of the Avs team? Players like Sakic and Forsberg of course, but I always thought Hejduk was pretty cool and had an awesome name. Just like Adam Foote.

So we'll be coming to Denver and seeing the Avs play and the Rockies before heading off further across the country.

The reason why I'm here is a little guidance on accommodation. Any places (either locations or hotels) that are recommended? What's downtown Denver like? Or on the opposite side, any places/areas to avoid like the kid I accidentally chose to sit next to on the first day of High School that turned out to be the strangest boy in our year and I was worried his strangeness would lead to people ostracising me by association. Basically any dangerous suburbs we should not book in?

Also Arrowhead Golf Course looks amazing. Just found it last night in looking at stuff to do.

Compared to a lot of cities, Denver doesn't have many areas to avoid. There are spots in Aurora that are kinda crappy, but some of the best food (and manatee hour!). Overall though, you're not going to run into areas that are extremely dangerous by accident. Down by the Rescue Mission (southish from Coors Field a few blocks) there tends to be a lot of homeless camps. I wouldn't recommend hanging out there, but it is pretty easy to spot and avoid... or walk by. 16th Street Mall (a place you'll likely head to) has had some spurts of those camps lately too. East Colfax into Aurora can get rough. But really... keep a good head. If you rent a car, don't leave your belongings visible (smash and grabs are probably the most common crime). You'll likely be fine. This isn't a Milwaukee/DC/Baltimore type city where it can get rough and dangerous quickly. Most of the crime is property crime and theft.

Downtown Denver is rather clean and walkable downtown for a western US city, but compared to east coast or European cities, it isn't that walkable (but it is a lot cleaner than both). You can walk around LoDo or 16th St Mall pretty easily. If you're walking or using public transportation, you'll be limited by the interstate and just pure distance... Denver has a lot of sprawl. The Highlands area is up and coming with a lot of good food and breweries. LoDo (basically Coors Field area) is filled with bars, clubs, and food. Most of the food follows US trends. So you'll find trendy fusion restaurants and such just like a lot of other cities. There is bound to be a decent restaurant of almost any type of cuisine you want. The Buckhorn Exchange isn't the best restaurant in Denver, but it is a local staple and flair. One of the best Ethiopian places I've ever had outside of Minnesota is on East Colfax. Guard and Grace is a great modern steakhouse, legitimately $200+ every time I go with my wife though. Tavernetta is excellent Italian food. But you can find good pizzas of different types (Blue Pan is a favorite of mine). Denver is big transplant city and the food reflects that. Plenty of variety, not a whole lot of local flair... which is why I'd recommend Buckhorn. When you go, order your friend the Rocky Mountain Oysters. I'd also recommend Linger too... more vibes than high end quality.

If you're a beer person, Denver has one of the best craft beer scenes in the world. There are many world class breweries throughout the city. Everything from Czech lagers, to the hoppiest of IPAs to sours that give Belgium a run. You can find anything you want there... you just may have to trot around the the city to get to some.

For lodging, if you're going to stick downtown... all the normal big names are there and probably fine. The Brown Palace is an interesting local hotel and well located. I'm sure there is an abundance of AirBnBs too that'd be fine. If you could get by the river, you'd also be in a good spot there.

Other things to do... if there is a show as Red Rocks you're at all interested in, it is worth it. Epic place to see any band. For golf, there are a ton of good options. I really like Fox Hollow by Red Rocks. City Park (nearish to downtown) is fun with some obvious space limitations. Fossil Trace is my favorite that I've played. I've never been lucky enough to play Arrowhead, but I'm sure somebody here has. Lots of good hiking and outdoor stuff on the western side of town. Just keep your eyes out for rattlesnakes as they are pretty common on those trails. Meow Wolf is an interesting experience, especially if you partake in other things prior.

And... above all else... Shotgun Willies. You're bound to see former Avs legend Tyler Arnason putting a single mother through college. If not, you can at least score some baby laxative laced with cocaine.
