Speaking of my bad pumpkin carvings, here are the ones I've done the past few years.

Instead of carving I tried shaving a pumpkin instead. It uhhhhhhh didn't go well.

I mostly do Pokemon because the neighborhood kids seem to enjoy them, but I did Vader when star wars got popular again. Then one year I did a T-rex chasing stick figures because my nephew wanted me too.

PMJ is freaking awesome. They came up to Fairbanks a couple of years ago and I love the show. Highly recommend you see them live if you get a chance.

So what's the twitter alternative? Looks like we're going to need it.

I’d honestly pay good money to go back to the pre-social media days in general.
You can actually save a lot of money that way.

Mastodon is the leading alternative. Can't remember what the other ones are.

I still have an Ello account. Kinda sad that one didn't take off, but I knew it wouldn't.
Wait, you're not on Truth or Parlor? :sarcasm:

That sounds nice for various reasons but it's too far gone now. I could do without a lot of it but I need my news and info instantly now.

Yeah, that's what I've read regarding Mastodon. Looks kinda strange and apparently it isn't the friendliest to use but I might have to give it a shot.

I don't really care about all of the verified stuff because I have my twitter set up in a way where I only see fake stuff if someone I follow or have listed gets fooled and puts it on my feed because I never wander outside of my lists. However, it's no longer just about the verification process anymore as it seems the whole thing might just be going down.

Hoo boy. Not sure you can even quantify how much good will Musk is going lose after bankrupting the largest social media platform in the world after just a couple of weeks.

Those who know his work, know he always does this. It isn’t a joyride working at Tesla or SpaceX. I think we have a Tesla employee here who could likely confirm. He cuts things to the bone and cranks up demands (and is very anti work from home). The operating leverage he’s built at Tesla is absurd for the type of company it is. He also routinely sends out SpaceX is on the verge of bankruptcy emails to staff. Did it in the past for Tesla, and always warns of financial peril. A bit of a motivation tactic IMO, but one less likely to work at Twitter.

I’m in wait and see mode. Will be interesting either way. Getting his ego checked would likely be a very good thing in general.

Saw a post the other day of someone saying that he'd give everything he has to go back 30 years. I shrugged it off at first and then I seriously thought about it. I certainly would, too.

Almost all aspects of life were better in 1992 (from my perspective, at least).

I too, would also love to go back to pre-social media days. The idea is great ... but as we've seen with Facebook, and soon to see with Musks Twitter, it's easily used for horrible shit.

As a full-blown fan of chaos, I can't say I don't find this terribly fascinating to follow. But I usually prefer my chaos to be in sports, not in areas where it can actually affect populations in a negative way.

I can understand why Musk wanted to pull out of the deal. The company was in trouble financially when he bought it and his actions doesn't help.

Should have known when the previous owners were so eager to sell they took him to court.

Not sure if twitter is/was unsalvable or not. The more I learn about Musk though, I kinda wonder if he's deliberating trying to go through bankruptcy so he can have time to completely rebuild it to his liking. I'm not saying that's what he's doing, but after reading some of the stories y'all have referenced him in I tend to think he's playing some damn 4D chess game I have no chance of actually following sometimes.
