The Ouray Ice Park Basically a climbing gym for ice climbing. It's pretty rad man.

We called that "walking to school".

I'm too skeered of heights to do that kinda thing.

Actually, I'm not skeered of heights, I'm skeered of falling from heights.

Actually, I'm not skeered of falling from heights, I'm skeered of the sudden stop at the bottom of the fall.

(cuz with my luck, I wouldn't die, I'd just get busted up really, really bad!)

With the season we are having in the SW corner of CO (literally getting our first real storms of the season NOW, after nothing since middle of November) I am so, so jealous. Post pictures or something because I'm desperate for some skiing stoke.

At least the ice climbing has been good, but it rained in Ouray last night and today so they haven't even been able to make more ice in the park...

I'll post some videos or pictures when I get everything onto my computer!

Just hit Winter Park today. The northern resorts (WP/Steamboat) seem to have more base than most, but there's still a ton of crap showing on every black diamond slope. Skiing in trees isn't really even an option yet.

It's snowing right now. Once an inch or so hit the ground, it got really dangerous, because while you can no longer see many of the roots/rocks, you'll still hit them with just an inch of fresh.

Tough season so far.

Whenever ASmileyFace posts about skiing and such it always makes me want to visit Colorado so much.
Doooo iittttt.
This is going to be controversial, but give me hiking in the summer time than skiing in the winter time in CO...
Not controversial at all. Summer hiking in CO is amazing. I generally backcountry ski, so I combine both the hiking and my favorite way to get down at the same time.

I got a couple days in at WP while I was home for christmas. They had enough coverage to make railing groomers fun, which was just enough to remind me that skiing is kind of fun

This storm today is actually laying down some base for the San Juans finally. As long as it doesn't get crazy warm for a long period again the next real storm should finally kick off backcountry season.

I dig this girl's voice.

trying to decide if I want to go see her in concert...

It is very cool to see this here. My cousin has been heavily involved with Wildermiss since the beginning. He has done a ton of the sound production for them and is close friends with the band. He'll be so stoked when I tell him that I saw people talking about Wildermiss online.

Headed to the front range for Greensky Bluegrass weekend! Wish I could go to tonights show but I had to work this morning. Friday and Saturday are going to be sooooo good.

Does that mean you can get Bubba and I into the concert for free?

That's solid, have you ever came across wolves or anything in winter? I love hiking in summer, but it is also bear season so there is a pro and con concerning that.

Yeah I don’t think that statement is too controversial either.....the old adage in Colorado is that you come for the skiing, stay for the summers. In a lot of ways summers are better. All four seasons are great IMO

There's no griz in Colorado though, so man up and punch that bear in the nose!

Seriously though, black bear are really pretty tame. Never worry about them. Worry about the mountain lions... those things are freaky.

You know the old saying, black attack, brown stay down, white say goodnight.

I've never really worried about bears too much though, just don't be an idiot around them and you'll be fine.

Black Bears are wimps. You can usually just yell in their face and spook them. Wolves are super rare in CO still, and they avoid humans as a rule. Hard as hell to find them if you want to see them, much less be attacked. As for the Mountain Lions, they're scary, but usually don't want to mess with people. If they do decide to eat you though, you'll be dead before you know they're there.

I used to ski a lot, but it's so damned expensive. Hiking is cheap. Just need good shoes and a water bottle, and the trails are almost always free.

Don’t have to sit in traffic, either. That’s the way I feel about Mt. biking......bikes are damn expensive, though

One of my friends pretty much goes up to the mountains every weekend on his motorcycle when the weather permits it. He has run across like 6 bears and told me that majority of them never really scared them. It's the Mom's you need to watch out for, but that could be said for any species. Though he told me that there are some parts of Colorado which do have Grizzlies like the parts around Wyoming I believe. He says that will be the only time he will carry a gun on him and I don't blame him. If you go to the zoo and see those ****ers up close, they can shred you with one swipe.

Yeah, you're not wrong, my friend said he came across one bobcat during that time and mentioned those things are scary because they stalk you. Just think how many have stalked him that he doesn't know about.

Yeah, I remember my friend out in Alberta saying how he goes camping and always has to be on high alert watching above in the trees for mountain lions. Those f***ers are scary.
