Same 4 as last year, but Buffalo/Ottawa will close the gap

Next year is when we start to see some change, imo
Buffalo will not falter this year...they look very good/confident. Also missing some key players and not impacting team. Plus they have cap room to spend and make meaningful trades with an accumulation of draft picks/top prospects in their system. They are making the playoffs and could do some damage.

Ottawa has played 3 less games so the standings could change. Sens also look decent and can change the standings this year.

Boston has been impressive this year (hate saying that). I thought they would be the 4th team just scraping into the playoffs, instead, it looks like they will be division contenders.

I don't think there will be any surprises for a playoff spot, but it will be a closer contest than last year when the playoff spots were locked up for quite a while before thr playoffs. However, I believe that beginning next year (23-24) we are going to start to see some significant changes between team standings and at least one, if not multiple, change in playoff teams from the 22-23 season.

Started 5-3-1 last year
Started 9-2-2 in 19/20

They have a history of hot starts, and then fading. We shall see how this season plays out.
While that is true this season is much different. They look more like the team that was on a 100 pt pace at the end of last season.

Imo folks continue to overlook flaws in other teams when thinking about projections. It's not just the Leafs in the Atlantic that have issues
My guess is a lot of you only watch the Leafs and not many games outside of them.

Climbing, up to #4 now in proj. points. Back on a 100pt pace!

Boston, tampa, toronto will take the top 3. One of Florida/detroit/buffalo will take a wildcard spot. I think it will be the panthers.

ur 100% wrong ... both those teams will finish with montreal bottom 3 again.
they have both already started there usualy november slide. besides the goaltending being substandard the defense outside there top guy (chabot and dahlin) is shockingly horrible

The sabres are dealing with some major injuries to the blue line...that is why they have fallen...

Research Mr. 100% wrong dude!

Haha indeed, that "Buffalo won't falter ... will make the playoffs and may do some damage" prediction is not aging well at this point.

Fair enough. At the same time, saying they will make the playoffs and maybe do some damage there is a pretty bold prediction and even at full health, not likely to happen IMO. I mean this is Buffalo we're talking about, come on now. Not only are they widely considered to be a poor team, there are so many good teams in the division that making the playoffs would be an uphill battle, even for a better team than they are.

To be honest, this year feels more wide open than any. There is no team that stands out significantly. This would be the opportunity for the Leafs to actually win a round, but I’m sure they will find a way to implode

From the games I've watched, I would so far rank them right now:

1. Boston
2. Toronto
3. Florida
4. Tampa
5. Ottawa
6. Buffalo
7. Montreal

I’m sure you are hoping for failure

It is more likely that is what you do. A lot of people on this board watch a lot of hockey. They prioritize the Leafs of course, but watch all the teams when it is possible for them; myself included.
