why are you using a 1 game sample? those are meaningless, unless the Bruins come out on top
You know what, you're right, using a 1 game sample size is wrong.

How many times have the Bruins beat the Leafs in the last 2 years again?

Just for fun I picked a few stats which I believe are most applicable to the playoffs for the top 3 such as Even strength goals, PDO, Save % and Shooting Percentage and looked their League ranks. It's remarkable how close these teams are with only one outlier (Even Strength Goals Against).

Tampa - Toronto - Boston

Even Strength Goals for - 4 - 2 - 5
Even Strength Goals Against - 3 - 18 - 2
Shooting % - 1 - 7 - 5
Save % - 3 - 5 - 4
PDO - 1 - 2 - 4

I'm no stats expert, but I don't see a whole lot of separation here. It's clear the Leafs are a step behind defensively but all 3 teams are pretty much evenly matched everywhere else.

I think that being cognizant of the age of Chara/Bergeron is important. The margins between a great team and a good one are razor thin, and their dominance has been as huge part of that this year. It's not they're in immediate danger of falling off a cliff (they've got a lot of great young pieces), but shrugging off the potential negative impact of the difference to replacement players (Chara) and losing even half a step (Bergeron) does not do justice to how effective they've been this year.

we use that 1 game as an example because it's the first time in a year the Leafs play a Healthy Bruins roster

Half of the Leafs defense including 3 of it's top 4 returned from injury either that game (1-2) or the game before (4).

The Leafs weren't exactly healthy Reilly, Zaitsev and especially Hainsey all looked off their game. Most of the talk about a one game sample is just people looking to take cheap shots, well all know one game doesn't mean anything.

Right, or you can say the only time in the last two years the Bruins beat the Leafs was at home on the 3rd game in 4 nights. Boston has not yet established a winning record against the current Leafs team whatsoever.

So you point out the Chara who's still playing at a high level at 40 and then saying Bergeron could drop off any year? Sometimes players can play very well into their late 30s, especially HOF calibere players, and especially smart players who take care of their bodies. I've been told for years that players peak at blah blah blah and blah blah blah but Bergeron is playing hands down the best hockey of his career at age 32. He is not the norm so I would get my hopes up on in him falling off anytime soon.
Player's usually don't play at a high level in their mid to late 40's. Even Chara now is a shell of his former self. History suggest that in the thirties player's usually don't play at an elite level and few can stay in the league until they're 40, there's nothing to suggest Bergeron is special whatsoever.

People have been saying Chara's been a shell of his former self and soon to fall off a cliff for half a decade lol. He was just voted a top 3 defensive defencmen in the league for the half-way awards, still stop 60 for dmen in ESP, 23rd in goals by defencmen, plays the 3rd most PK minutes in the league on the 3rd best PK in the league, still plays the 24th most ESTOI/GP, and has the most TOI/GP on the best defensive team in the league. He lost his power play abilities but Chara is still a very good #2 defencemen if not a good 1B.

The way Chara shut down Matthews a week ago, with Bergy's help. I could not care less if he was 40 or not. Just dominated The Matthews line. If this is not the worst fear to opposition, I don't know what is. He's been great with McAvoy this year. Perfect pairing of youthful talent and wily experience.
Bro, you lose credibility when you put so much emphasis on one game. A game by the way that Matthews was still not 100 percent

In before Leafs vs. Bolts. I predict Leafs will pass Bruins in standings before end of regular season. I'm pretty sure of this and we don't have to calculate pace or quality of competition. We can compare points when schedule factor has evened out.

Bruins get "the Wild treatment" from last year when Wild played 23 games in 41 days and their tires fell of completely. Bruins will play 24 games in 44 days in the end of regular season. Three long road trips before playoffs and no rest.

Leafs will play 15/25 against Atlantic Division 9 games against Sabres, Habs, Sens and Wings. 14 games at home, longest travel to Nashville. Long stretches of home games.

I bet Bruins fans will complain about injuries and fatigue and whatever. If I'm wrong I'll tip my hat for those gummy bears, but I wouldn't gamble against laws of physics.

huh? All I see are some Boston fans and TWS thumping their chests about the one game Boston beat Toronto

It's mostly because because you guys keep throwing the last year and a half in our face ..... Only the last game you guys played the real bruins roster ...

You can't even consider last year the same team at all (McAvoy, DeBrusk, Heinen,Bjork, Grzelcyk, Kuraly) . Then when you consider the first two games of this season the bruins where missing 3 key players on top of being banged up .

This conversation has been going in circles but I'm just stating facts ... Does that mean Boston would of won ? Who knows .... But the last game was the first and only real measurements of both teams current roster

Except it was the Leafs' 3rd game in 4 nights. We have been 1-5 in those games all year and the reason we're so bad is because the team usually doesn't show up for those games. The Bruins took it to the Leafs that game, no doubt but the Leafs were absolutely brain dead and couldn't make easy tape to tape passes. If you want to call that a real measurement then knock yourself out.

If you want to hang your hat on that, and if you like if you think Boston is the same team in Nov as they are now. You will be sadly mistaken. With a full and healthy line up. They dominated the Leafs in their last game 4-1. Which was clear evidence the Leafs are at a lower tier then the Bruins a week ago. Tonight they get a 2nd chance to see if they are at TB's or Boston's level.

looking good.
