Hallelujah. I would have been much less critical of Holland if he wasn't so passive while the franchise became the worst in the league.

So far Yzerman hasn't collected a single pick to us.

Lost a 4th for Erne. So far, Yzerman is 1 pick on the negative side.

Ken Holland did collect:

- Nyquist - got 2 extra picks
- Jensen - picks went even, but got the higher 2nd for 5th.
- Tatar - got 3 extra picks
- Mrazek - got 1 extra picks (corrected, had 1 extra conditional never met = re-signing)
- Scott Wilson - got 1 extra pick
- Wilson - Sheahan trade went even, but Holland got the higher 3rd for lower 5th.

He was just interviewed about the season to this point and explicitly stated “hopefully acquire more draft picks”. He’s saying his plan is to do it if possible, but just because he hasn’t done it shouldn’t be held against him as a negative.

Holland also tore down the team and every piece that made sense to trade. Yzerman has at best Atahanasiou, Green, Daley, and Glendening, and I’d bet he’s lucky to trade one at this rate. Not really the same as Tatar, Nyquist, Jensen, Smith, Vanek, Mrazek, Sheahan, Jurco.

I am excited about having Yzerman back. I was, however, one of the few that wasn’t burning holland on the cross. I think once the organization made the decision to rebuild he did a very good job of executing.

And to be fair, the folks who were supposed to get us some potential value in a year where they could be traded, are playing like hot garbage. Bernier is our best chip to play and we can’t even play it.

And it's interesting if you build Ken Holland's last 4 years with timeline of those trades.

From off-season 2015 to February 11th 2017
- Will gain a pick for Kindl
- Loses a pick for Sadowy
- Trades Datsyuk contract away at 2016 draft - gains a pick

--------------------------- Mike Ilitch dies on February 11th 2017.

After February 11th 2017 to May 5th 2019 he leaves the GM duty:

- Gains the rest of those 14 picks mentioned above, first starting from February 24th 2017.
- Didn't lose a single pick.

It can't be any more clearer for me that he just completed the owner's wish of never surrender attitude, until Mike Ilitch passed away.

Then, after two weeks, when there's a new chairman, Holland turned to be a rebuild-GM from a switch.

@Henkka nice list, but Mrazek and Nyquist didn't bring back more than 1 pick each in the end as conditions weren't met.

it would be nice if Yzerman found a way to move Green & Helm (probably with 50% retained).

Nyquist's pick would have been elevated if he re-signed, we still own that second draft choice in terms of the picks we traded for though.

I think Yzerman will do that. I also think it is preposterous to suggest that Holland wouldn't be making a similar comment with us dead last by a million miles. What he said in April doesn't really matter there. Circumstances matter, and the time line of this stuff matters. Holland was clearly in full rebuild mode the last several years while most of his detractors ignored that. Again I think most of us know that was Mike Ilitch that slowed it, but apparently it was unacceptable for Holland to allow the owner of the team to do so. The real life circumstances of this stuff matters, it isn't an EA sports game.

theyre both a perfect fit with edmonton , ecspecially green as theyre not getting offensive help from the back end . oils 2nd and a prospect would work imo . then we take nyi 2 and oil 2 to move up into late first round

This board has been clamouring for AA to be traded for about 3-4 years now.

Will be sad to see him leave, but at least this board will be 1% less toxic.

Yeah, Mrazek-trade got only 1 pick, he didn't re-sign with the Flyers, which would given another.

But Nyquist-trade still got 2 picks.

Yeah, I mistakenly remembered the Gus trade as an extra third if he stays in SJ or nothing.
SJ's 3rd is currently 69th overall... good for the rebuild.
