Anyone who was thinking about buying NHL16 just dont do it. The game is awful. Worse than last year's crap they put out. I've been purchasing the series for the last 20 years and this is just an absolute disappointment.

Playing the computer on the second hardest level in GM mode, you'd think you're playing the best team every night and that you're team is the edmonton oilers defense.

Henrik Lundqvist can't stop a beach ball in the net. Every shot goes in.

Your defensemen are constantly out of position even though you're not controlling them.

When facing an opposing forward coming down on you, if he stops and goes on you, the defenseman your controlling curls out of the way even if you dont move the joystick much if at all.

The other team plays perfect defense against you. They read every play and have the most perfect stick lifts and poke checks i have ever seen. When the computer is on offense and you block a shot, puck magically ends up back on their stick leading to a goal.

Skater that shouldn't out skate others, do.

Idk if this is in every mode, but in GM mode you can't turn the on-ice trainer off before starting games. so when you start the game you have to switch them all to off. Because it doesn't help and all the graphics just get in the way.

Opposing power plays are almost assuredly goals.

The computer is amazing at pinning you and winning those puck battles. But when you pin them the computer wins those battles as well.

Constantly get knocked off the puck easily at all times.

It is just a terribly, terribly made game. Wish I didn't waste my money. I'll stick to Fifa which is made a 1000x better. Game play is so much more accurate, passing, shooting, AI play, etc everything overall better.

Ok. end rant.

Did you have similar experiences with 15? I've never really had trouble scoring or having good games against the computer in previous versions but many people that I know have to the point they'd stop playing. I didn't think last years was crap at all, played it a ton and loved it so I kinda don't know what to think here haha.

Is the game "complete" now? I remember you couldn't sim to next shift in be a pro at first or do a fantasy draft in be a Gm. They said this would be fixed. Has it been?

Thank you for this. I was considering it. Last NHL game had was 12. Most fun I've had with a video game in a while. Making your own guy and playing EASHL was my favorite thing ever, especially since I was good. I heard after that they dropped EASHL and I never bought another NHL.

I bought 16 yesterday and love it. NHL games are very polarizing for one reason or another. If you've liked any of them with the dual stick controls, you'll like 16. At first it was way too hard on all star, which is what I played on with 15. Put it down to pro and adjusted a few sliders to make it a little harder and it's about right now. I imagine after playing a while I'll be back at all star, as that's usually the way it goes after getting a feel for a the new mechanics and whatever of the latest game. My old d strategy of standing everyone up at the blue line and wrecking them against the boards doesn't work as well anymore but that's alright, it was unrealistically easy in 15 once you got the timing down.

I suspect that some of the people who hate the game are playing on a difficulty level that is too high for their ability at the game. It's a computer simulation, not being able to win on the hardest difficulty isn't a problem. Turn it down one and fine tune some Ai settings to get it to a fun place. It's about having some fun, not proving some arbitrary skill.

Oh, and if you're comfortable with the game turn the on ice trainer off in the main settings if it's annoying you. Not a hard fix at all.

Also got battlefront and it's... disappointing, though I haven't had much time to play it. No campaign mode at all and the single player battles are all on pretty small simple maps. I feel like the single player stuff is like halo 2 level gameplay and map design just in a Star Wars skin. I feel like a grandpa but every fps of this generation feels like a rehash of halo. Between those and gritty post apocalyptic RPGs you have like 90% of the current offerings. Really underwhelmed with the selection of games for ps4 considering how long it's been out now. Very open to any recommendations.

The annual winter Steam sale is the best thing ever

So many awesome games at low prices.

Guilty Gear and Alien Isolation. That's all I got.

I'm a HUGE old school FPS fan and have beaten most of the old famous ones, new shooters really don't do it for me unless it's a truly amazing game like Halo 3 or Black Ops II. Speaking of which, I do not like Black Ops III at all. This whole generation of gaming is so lackluster.

What games would you recommend that are currently on sale on Steam?

Well it depends on what you're looking for.

Modern games, I definitely go Alien Isolation, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Child of Light if you're into RPGs, the Witcher, etc. There are more than 8,000 games on sale though so this is kind of a tough question.

I bought 48 games from this sale :yo:

Thanks dude.

48 games? How many do you think you'll actually play?

I have 128 games in my steam library, a bunch of mods for other games, and at least 800 physical video games in my room (I collect). This "not having time" thing is certainly not new and has never stopped me

especially being in part time grad school. I'm still an undergrad.

Spent $80 on Steam. Got Witcher 3, EU, Fallout New Vegas, among others.

Also finally found the older (pre 2008) PC games I've had lying around forever. Overall, came out with around 30 games this weekend.

Oooooooh like what?

I love old PC gaming. Such fun and nostalgia.

Flight Sim X and 2004 (although if there's a key for 04, I can't find it), Battlefield 1942, Rome Total War, Civ 4 with some expansion packs, Battlestations Midway and Pacific, Fifa 08 and 07, NHL 06 (I've never played a nonconsole NHL game), Caesar 4, Age of Empires 3, Silent Hunter 3, Port Royale 2, and lots of WW2 games.

Should be a fun week.

Got NHL16 Battlefront and Fallout4.

Nhl16 is great absolutely **** on kids on hut. Glitch goal wrap around FTW.

Battlefront im disappointed but im also not disappointed bbecause its battlefront lol.

F4. Jesus Christ this game is just amazing. The story has more twists then a Ice Cream Cone. Gamplay is extremely smooth. And the graphics are to die for.

Going to enjoy going into video game hibernation.

Ive never had scoring against the computer in previous years games. And to be honest I can still score in this one. But playing defense is nearly impossible. Player switching just doesnt make sense. Like i said when back skating defending 1-on-1 you almost have to hold the left trigger and pretty much not move the joystick because if you do and the forward makes one move on you, your player does this curl almost as if he is rolling out the red carpet for a clean chance on net. But when you dont move the joystick you lose momentum/speed to keep up with streaking forward. Player switching. Constantly switching to the wrong guy/not the nearest guy to the opposing player with the puck. Allowing for open shots. Or while youre defending a forward in the corner, your teammates dont move with the forwards around the front of the net, leading to a wide open one timer pass from the guy youre defending in the corner. And even though you can see it developing and try to switch to your other player to stop the one-timer, it either doesnt switch fast enough or to the wrong guy. Henrik Lundqvist is also swiss cheese in net apparently.

cant comment on the be a pro mode. Havent used it yet. I believe the fantasy draft is an option. They did fix a lot of glitches in the game. For example (although seemingly small) during the intro to a game, the goaltending stats were always showing zeroes. They also allow you to play with the minor league affiliate when for some stupid reason that was taken out last year (probably because they rushed the game out). I mean the interfaces and concepts of the game have improved. But gameplay has sucked royally. These clowns have done 4 roster updates and still havent added Brady Skjei to Hartford. How hard is that to put the Rangers best NA prospect in the game
