Speculation: The 2026-27 Roster Speculation Thread: Summer Edition - Throw in All The Oars, We're Trading for Battleships

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Seravalli saying that Carolina’s offer for Hellebuyck is believed to be a 1st round pick and Nikishin.
Posted in the other thread, but I actually think that it makes all kind of sense for Carolina to make a push for Helley, even with some risk involved. The fit with their structure and his strengths as a goalie has the potential to be excellent.

Toronto fans are suspiciously ok with him being traded. And that's not just because they expect a haul.
I think it IS mostly that they just expect a haul. Go check out their board. They have literally spitballed getting Power + Helenius + #4 for Knies and Carlo. They are completely out to lunch. Almost as bad a ranger fans.

Ranger fans coming in hot with some incredibly ridiculous trade proposals for us to acquire Trocheck.
A lot of fans of players rumored to Buffalo think they're getting Helenius in the deal. Nah. There's a reason every fan wants him in the deal. Buffalo has no one of his ilk down the middle. Ostlund is close, but I think Helenius is a slight tier higher.

Our fan base is very divided.

One side does not want to trade a true PF
and
The other side wants 2 pieces for him. A Center and a D.

Understand that it’s a leap of faith trading the best “now” piece in a trade.

Pagnotta just said on Daily Faceoff that Buffalo has poked around Jason Robertson

It is unclear if the Red Wings have an appetite to explore a trade involving DeBrincat, at this stage, but citing multiple league sources, TFP’s David Pagnotta reports teams have reached out.

DeBrincat owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract
and does have some control in where he ends up, if dealt.

The Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Seattle Kraken and Buffalo Sabres are some of the teams exploring the market for a top-line, scoring winger and could have interest in DeBrincat.

DeBrincat scored 41 goals and added a career-high 44 assists for a career-high 85 points in 82 games with the Red Wings this past season.
