I wonder if Crevier is seen as the 4D, Power partner?

Sammy-Dahlin
Power-Crevier
Metsa-Timmins
Johnson

Seems unbalanced still with a lot of RHD, and betting on Crevier to be a 2nd pair guy is a bit of a gamble although I know zero about the guy.

He skates really really well especially for his size, and is very defensively responsible, with a nasty streak and he will throw his body around, but not enough to put himself out of position. He is exactly what Power needs in a partner and will do well on 2nd pair IMO.

Bringing in another defense-first LHD to play that 3rd pairing and PK (so Dahlin and OP don't have to) would make a ton of sense.....if they think that Johnson can't be that guy (which I don't think they do).

So, just ran a sim on puckpedia with the Byram trade.

Re-signed Benson, Malenstyn, and Krebs to their AFP contracts.

Started Kulich and Danforth in Rochester

xxx - Norris - Thompson
Benson - Ostlund - Doan
Zucker - Helenius - Quinn
Krebs - McLeod - Malenstyn
x Carrick, Kozak

Samuelsson - Dahlin
Power - Timmins
Metsa - Crevier

UPL, Lyon, Ellis

$10.3M in cap space. Jarmo would need to shuffle a forward or two around and get another D, but he’s definitely in Tuch re-signing range now.

It’s not unbalanced. It’s also not a lot of RHD. Its only 3 to 4 LHD in the lineup you put forth. We just spent an entire season with only lefties in the top 4. I think we’ll be ok.

Plus we may not be done making moves.

Didn't want to see byram traded especially after kesselring being traded and after bo playoff performance.

But the value is way above what i expected. especially for CHI to push their big stack in for byram.

Wish him the best and now is his opportunity to become the man !!!

If Jarmo is thinking about laying players to keep sustained playoffs runs, this looks pretty good.

Veterans: Thompson, Dahlin, Norris, Zucker, McLeod, Malenstyn, Carrick, Timmins, Danforth, Metsa, Lyon. Does he re-sign Tuch?

Players entering the leading edge of their best years: Doan, Quinn, Power, Samuelsson, UPL, Ellis, Kozak, Krebs

Young players with loads of potential: Benson, Helenius, Ostlund, Kulich

Young players on the verge of the NHL: Levi, Wahlberg, Johnson

Prospect pipeline: 4OA, Mrtka, 20OA, 45OA, Ziemer, Strbak, Kleber, McCarthy

In 2-3 years, imagine the Sabres on the cusp of the cup and needing just that last bit of roster reinforcement, with the assets available now.

I'd be good with giving Crevier a crack at a bigger role. My spidey sense says he's someone the analytics folks may have stumped for. But I'd like to see them hedge their bets by adding another D to compete for that spot.

Keep Tuch, flip Quinn for Spence, and we're cooking with gas.
