Speculation: The 2026-27 Roster Speculation Thread: Summer Edition - Throw in All The Oars, We're Trading for Battleships

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
The Caps have done a nice rebuild on the fly. They have their high profile kids, they have a group of younger veterans and not much left of their 30+ old guard. They also have a dynamite goaltending tandem. Adding Kyrou and Tuch with only taking McMichael away is going to be good for them IMO.
i don't see it.

I don't understand wanting to trade for Trocheck at all. Why do we want to give up assets to get an old guy that we hope will be replaced by Ostlund, Kulich, and Helenius soon anyway? They should out produce Trocheck THIS YEAR. These are professional athletes not babies, they don't need an old washed up guy to baby them. I would rather keep our assets, and force these kids to sink or swim. If they're worth anything they'll perform. I certainly wouldn't give up anything of value to get Trocheck.

Still need a top 4D and a scoring forward.

Feel like we can tweak the goalie position during the season.
I would rather gamble on some youth than overpay the premium that knies and Robertson would cost. Kemmel for example could be gotten cheaper. Player like that imo. If we hit we hit big. Even a player like Wright, could be a 60 point center with the Sabres.
We already have a young roster so let's roll with it. If our young guys are good, we would be very very good. If not, oh well. 40 points each from Helenius, a Ostlund, Kulich should be the expectation imo.

Why would we even entertain trading #4 + for knies, a winger that's hit 60 points once?
