What's the deal with Dupont out in Everett? Is that the real deal, or just someone that is talented but with slightly inflated stats playing for the highest scoring offense in the WHL?
Real deal. What he’s doing as a 15 year old is unreal. His frame is probably the only knock and he likely ends around 6’1” or so. The generational hype will build quite quickly.

I’d prefer Martone still, models his game after Tkachuk and Perry, that’s someone we could use. Looks like he’d be able to step into the NHL immediately.

It’s Cup, Martone or bust, lol
This is what needs to happen.

We have 2.5 years before Cale Makar becomes the highest paid player in the history of the sport.

in Calgary
You both bring up good points. I'm still for Schaefer, just to watch him and Makar dummy the league for the one season (I'd assume his rookie year will be okay, but not amazing, then he'll hit his stride in year 2)

Honest question but what does Hagens have on Martone?
He's a centre, higher IQ, and has a better two-way game. Martone does stuff that Hagens can't, like play a more physical game, but let me ask you...if you were building a team, would you draft Jack Hughes or Mason McTavish? I think Martone is more skilled than McTavish, but he plays a similar sort of style which is cut within the same cloth as Cory Perry. However, even though these players are quite unique, they aren't necessarily reasons why teams win Cups. Devils have a better chance to win the Cup with Hughes as their centre than the Ducks with McTavish down the middle with him.

I view Martone as more Matthew Tkachuk than Mason McTavish, but maybe I'm wrong. Don't get to watch tons of OHL stuff these days

I do think Martone is quite close to Hagens, but the centre vs winger will probably win out at this point in time. You can absolutely be right, I see a lot of Tkachuk too, but both he and McTavish are pretty overrated IMHO.
