The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

If Jacob Bryson is TRULY blocking Ryan Johnson -- our front office/coaching staff really are complete and utter idiots............or Johnson ain't it.

Chad is way over-reacting here. Signing Bryson to a 1 year, $900k deal is basically nothing. If Johnson gets the chance and proves he belongs......waiving Bryson (or JBD) is how that roster spot happens.

Bryson not good, yeah, Johnson doesn't get chances, but it's not just that, what is Bryson doing? He's small, not good at almost anything, not physical, not great on PK. I don't see the point of continuing to ride him.

Agreed. Quite the histrionic take over a depth signing

It's not the depth signing per se, at least to me. It's the image that they're going to keep rolling out what they have.

This team needs something (a kick to the nads) to get the message across that what is isn't acceptable anymore. (or at least, it SHOULD NOT be).

You can find players, and better players, than Bryson in the offseason. This sends the wrong message at the wrong time.

EDIT: It's a prime example of the complete tone deafness of this organization.

Seems like we're all in on running it back next season.

Only UFA with an expiring contract is Reimer.

The only hole on the roster compared to this season is Joki's old spot. I expect Adams will sign a Lyubushkin/Clifton/Eric Johnson type UFA and expect them to play top 4 minutes. Or they just promote RJ.

Given that the trade route is the best option for them to upgrade the roster, this isn't the worst position to be in.

Especially given how many of the pending RFAs could be attractive trade pieces this offseason.

The UFA market is not the best place to look for a top 4 RHD to pair with Owen Power.

There are not a lot of great options and good luck getting a UFA with options to sign here.

Here is how bad the RHD Power partner UFA market is:

Henri Jokiharju & Erik Johnson may be the 2nd & 3rd best options behind Dante Fabbro.

He didn’t say it was a good idea - he said it’s what he expects Adams to do since it’s his literal method of operating for his entire management career.

the problem is not the roster talent.

There is simply no intelligence as was shown last night.

Explains why they nearly made the playoffs playing no system yet cannot play within a system to save their lives

I dont see it. I think they want RyJo to get experience and pka yh with a good AHL team.

I view Bryson and JBD as 7/> Dmen which isn't blocking Johnson

I agrer.

I expect Johnson to be a bottom pair D on next yrs team unless they trsfe him for a RD of similar age_ nhl ready
This reminded me of the Big Johnson T-shirts of the 90's ..

Its not the depth signing that is the issue its what it represents. We also thought Bryson would be AHL depth this year and he gets 50-60 games.

That aside it just represents more of the same of what Adams has done for 5 years....nothing.
Shoring up the top 4 is one thing, having NHL capable depth in the 6-8 slots is another.

Adams going all in contractually on Samuelsson and Power is a far bigger problem than Bryson on a one year deal making a couple of shekels above the league minimum. Getting Byram into a reasonable deal is the next real hurdle for Adams to clear. Bringing in a vet defenseman who doesn't look out of place handling top 4 minutes is another. His failure to accomplish those two things will give us something real to complain about as far as our blueline is concerned,

Hopefully he won't be around long enough to accomplish either task.

Isn't "intelligence" a talent?

He's accomplished quite enough.....

So what should sabres do this summer ? We lack a top center and with Norris injured often we Will miss a second line center (McLeod a good 3
Center but would need to be 1 center in Buffalo)

We seem far away from playoffs now
And if in would have hard advanced from first round.

Hagens could he be a good first line center ?

We need NHLers that know how to play ik the NHL. Guys that have been around, but not the old vet just to get a vet type. Try to upgrade as many players as you can, even if it's just bottom pairing, 4th line or back up. Find better players to help the team. But who am I kidding, we they won't do that.
