The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Being worried about people being good elsewhere is such a loser mentality. :biglaugh:

The paralysis has again set in. They should have already signed Zucker and Greenway ahead of this week instead of sitting around, waiting. Get on with it. You already suck, suck by doing something. Do the wrong thing. Do something.

The only thing this post was missing is the word "Darcy"

Given the current state of the Sabres (and the state of the Sabres over the past decade plus), I am not going to bet on EP40 coming here and becoming the best version of himself.
That's right, considering the shit Buffalo has been in for so many years and the constant lack of talent, legit top 6 C's and so much more, you're taking that risk (unless it costs a ton).

You can continue to do nothing and wait for a miracle.

What's the worst that could happen? We suck? oh wait...we already do.

The idea of having another skinner-esque Anchor doesn't really appeal to me.

But….this appears to be an outlier over the last 4 years. It’s not like his 100 pt season was the outlier. So we need to know: what changed.

Trading for EP40 and hoping he figures things out here is waiting for a miracle, too.

The knee is what's concerning if he's still dealing with problems a year later. That's a big red flag for me.

At least it's a chance, especially since we don't have full information and I was talking about this, that some people from the Sabres may have more information than we do.

This is weird that they are just now talking? Why is it preliminary 5 days till the deadline? Why wasn't this talked about 2 weeks? A month ago? Whats changed? We've been effectively eliminated from the playoffs since January 1.

I think we can all confidently say, there's no process in place here. No concrete plan. All Adams has ever had was vague notions and even that has changed with every different head coach. We're on version 3 of his vision for the team and each of them has sucked.

The man needs a change of scenery. He went from a 90th percentile speed player to 50th, he is either still hurt or mailed it in on that team. It is worth the 4.5m salary difference of a risk. Cozens has to move out though.

I'm looking at Power and either Byfield or Berniers as the centerpieces of an OP deal.
OP for beniers would be pretty funny but I don't see that from Seattle

The byfield one is interesting. I just still don't get why he'd be available.maybe I'm stuck in the past but he seems like the stereotypical LA King. I wonder if Byram would be more interesting to them since it seems any shakeup would be with the goal of progressing in the playoffs and he's got a cup

Also, I still think the 1C talk is a bit overkill.

I know they like tage at wing, but I don't see him holding us back. Would anyone be upset at a tage/cirelli 1/2 punch?

If the only option for a 1C is draft or pettersson, I'd rather try to get a good #2.

Assuming kulich to be a solution in either spot next year is borderline insane, and something I'd expect from our management, not this board.

Wow, thats bad.

How do we get Cirelli? Tage as a 1C is also not reliable with his some injuries. Of course we should probably use him there if we have no one else. Kulich should not be the answer in this, but I think he could theoretically replace for example Peterka on Tage's wing if we suddenly trade JJP for a top 6 C or top 4 RD. I think Peterka is a good player, but I think he benefited the most from playing on Tage's wing when Tage was out with an injury, Peterka was terrible and didn't score any points in many games.

If we can get a top 6 C or something like that, that's progress.

He had a short term change of scenery playing for Team Sweden and completely no showed for them.

If he can't get up to play for his country...

If Pegula/KA is going to start changing up their act for the better, they need to start by re-signing Greenway and Zucker even if the contracts are above market value. They can't lose vets and force themselves into a choice between more rookies or FA scraps this summer. If they can do that and actually add a decent vet or two, slowly they can inch up in compete level and attract more players like that. But to keep recycling through more young players in the line-up is just a slow death by a thousand cuts, from a cheap and dulled out knife because Pegula won't spend...even for a sharp knife.

And if any of them were hugely played and underperforming players that "need a change of scenery" I would be wary of them, as well.

As opposed to say Henri Jokiharju looking decent in the tournament...
Which begs the question, if a player can't perform with better teams and coaching staffs, why should we expect that player to perform under our current staff and players.

Because we don't know what the problem is with this player. When people said that Dahlin looked bad at the beginning of the season and someone even said that he is not elite, I immediately said that I think Rasmus is playing with an injury and it seriously hampers him. And I was right. We have no information about what Pettersson's problem is right now.
