The key here seems to be what this team is... When they feel like they are a winning team, they stand up for that. It matters! This is visible in youth hockey all the way up - teams either have an identity that aligns with putting yourself on the line (and your team is built that way) or you have a reason to do it...Honestly, I really thought we were past this bullshit with that team, that season, hell, that moment. They really seemed to fight hard for each other and had real push-back as a group. Perhaps that's why I'm so disappointed with what they've become.
Noesen had 3 plays that night that went largely unanswered 1) high elbow on Ras (Ras pushed back), 2) Late hit on Zucker after goal (Quinn went in and got pushed, so no address) and 3) hit on Tage.
A team that cares at all is engaged and mad. Fans that are engaged are mad. But they putter around looking to score the next goal/point of their abysmal season so because that is all that they care about. Young team, no care about winning, no retaliation. This does fall on the GM and the losing etc... they are not engaged and they are not passionate because they are not winning. simple!
It crossed my mind that they don't like Tage, but, the cumulation of events, should have had them riled up. And if not, they should have been riled up after and just found someone else to pay the price (Gilbert, meet Siegenthaler - something).
But they had a meeting and are going to act like a winning team now, so all good.
