The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

Trading for EP makes a ton of sense, but there's a bunch of other moves KA has to make and should have made already to improve the roster. He just keeps sitting on his hands...almost as if he doesn't have complete autonomy. So no matter what happens if an EP trade even occurs, the roster is going to stay mediocre as long as KA keeps waiting on prospects to develop to a disappointing level.

I’m not giving up Power, it’s way too early to trade him.

What a chance to balance the team out…bye Cozens and Byram, hello EP.

Center spine of Tage, EP, McLeod…

No more bs on D, Dahlin n Power are our LD for the next 7 years, make on smart move immediately after the EP trade to bring in Murphy/Whitecloud/etc by using Rosen or picks.

Totally different team, and the current one sucks.

Make the trade and get Power a real right shot, stay at home defenseman!
If van wants power, trading him isn't even "giving up on him", if EP is coming back

With that said, if it's down to those 2 it's tough to say without knowing Byram 's next contract.

Seriously…I want to make the trade but removing Cozens and Byram for EP makes this team worse without other movies yo replace Byram

Quote from Rutherford from his interview.

"So yeah, if a centre goes out of here we have to get some kind of centre back but it’s not going to be the same as the centre going out. It might not even be a No. 2 centre, but you’d have to do the best with what we have until we figure out how to fill that spot back in.

“And then, of course, you have to get extra things [in any trade] that you can either use in the future to flip for NHL players now or for other positions or things like that.”

Pack your shit, Peyton

Byram + Cozens or Power + Krebs

In any case, Byram RFA and he will be under control and during this time options can be found if he eventually wants to leave. Carolina just traded Necas and they knew in advance that he would leave anyway in a year and a half.

Funny, but when I first read that quote... I immediately thought of you and your seemingly personal vendetta against Krebs. :biglaugh:

What if Adams is offering Cozens+Byrum for EP40 + [mid level pick or prospect] and Allvin wants Byrum, Krebs, Rosen, and 2025 1st for EP40?
What if this is not the case, and our 1st is now in the top 4, which is very valuable.

With the talk of future pieces they could flip, it makes me wonder if Vancouver wants the Sabres 2025 pick because that would be a piece that they could easily flip in a secondary trade to improve their NHL roster.

Cozens and Byram are not those kinds of pieces.

Top 5 protection and it’s done. Then flip cozens for a partner for Power
If Vancouver is more interested in a lesser C than Cozens and the 2025 1st, I can understand why this deal isn't done yet. I could see Adams having zero interest in moving that pick, even with top 5 protection.

[Qualifier: I would be OK with moving that pick in that deal with top 5 protection. But, we have seen Adams miss out on deals because he wasn't willing to move Kulich, so it wouldn't surprise me if Adams feels that their 2025 1st is untouchable.]

If both sides are in agreement on Cozens+Byram for EP40 as the core of the deal, I wonder what the hold up really is. Is Vancouver not going to pull the trigger if Adams wants a 3rd or a mid-level prospect added to the deal?
