Holy shit, what have they done to my boy Casey? I just set my personal pull up record the other day.
Just read over the Avs board. Apparently he's slumping BADLY and not meshing with any of their offensive talent (IE, Nuke or Rantanen or Lehkonen or even Drouin). We all know that Casey was always not the biggest volume shooter.....but apparently he's had 6 total shots his last 17 games. That's anemic.

He's also getting raked a bit for being soft on the puck......which is strange given how generally good on the puck he was here.

I think he had a decent, but not great defensive reputation a few years ago

He's got the 4th best goal differential on the Pens, despite the 4th fewest Ozone starts. 3rd fewest high danger chances against

Finnish Gus. I'd be game to give him a whirl. That likely means they have to waive someone else and disrupt choir practice or their bake sale or whatever this week's bible study discussion would be, so that's probably not going to happen.

Edit - weird that he doesn't PK, and I don't mean he doesn't PK much, but he hasn't put in a second PKing in two years. He has under 2 minutes of PKing going back 5 seasons. Total. For a guy down the lineup, what is the utility in that? Heh. Weird.

Adams needs to get off his ass and get Pettersson from Vancouver before another eastern conference team is able to steal him.

The risk is in picking up that contract. I don't see Adams being willing to absorb that risk even if it paid off with EP returning to form from years prior.

I would still float Power for Pettersson, one-for-one. Vancouver gets a puck mover while Hughes is on the mend who can then move back into Quinn's shadow when Hughes comes back while saving 4-ish million against the cap. Buffalo sorta fixes their 2C issue by making Thompson their 2C.

It is not very clear what our defense will look like then and whether Byram will remain in the near future. Do we want to keep the pair Dahlin - Byram or for example put Byram in the second pair and find RD for him, and put Sammy with Dahlin. But in general I am not against, we need such a player.

Just a fyi, this is Blowing up in Vancouver and its 11 PM in the evening.
If Petey really is available, would require quite a Haul for him.
They almost had a deal last year with Carolina for Necas, Kotka a top prospect (Morrow) and a 1st.
They forced Petey's hand to sign or they trade, and he signed.

I dono what the Buffalo Equivalent would be, but IMO I would do it for Peterka, Byram and a Protected 1st.

Would you guys?

I imagine that one of Cozens or Power would have to be part of any trade to balance out the cap hits...

...or Tage. I honestly think I would make that trade. It would make me sad to do it, but I think the team would be a more complete team with the swap.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is any chance at all that Terry approves taking on another 11+M dollar contract. In fact, I feel rather strongly that the noise about a Detroit trade is Adams targeting Kasper and looking to move some longterm payroll. Maybe Cozens or Sammy, or possibly avoiding paying Quinn or Peterka.

Hoping I am wrong, but I feel like some payroll going out is almost inevitable at this point.

Pretty wild that he said Petterson could and should be #1Center when they have already paid him 11.6 mill

I still say that Petterson scares the f out of me with that contract and his diminished play.

I think I'm cool with one premium piece and then some stuff added.

Byram, Rosén, 2025 unprotected 1st, 2026 2nd, Jokiharju

Well, Power and Cozens' contracts scare me too, so it works both ways. I'm just evaluating the player and his skill. I think Pettersson is the player we need right now. He's not like Tage or Cozens, he's a proven 1C and fits our core age-wise. He's a great 2-way C who can play defense, he can lead the line, be a playmaker, and shoot. Of course they need to check his card/health before making a deal, but in terms of need and lack of NMC/NTC, he's a very good option and guys like that rarely get traded. Eichel was probably the last one I can remember.
