The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

So per the DRW thread, someone was wonder if Vancouver would take a shot at Jokiharju. I think since he's kind of Hronek-lite and they are missing QHughes and Hronek both long-term, that could be a way to shuffle things around a little. Hoglander keeps popping up as shopped, and while another forward might seem odd, it would free them up to shuffle out someone like Lafferty. Hoglander is small but works his bag off.

Or just take the Canucks' 2nd and use it (we hope) later?

Hank for Hog makes sense in a general sense

I know Joker is a mostly playable RHD, but I can't imagine he fetches a 2nd rounder.

I'd do a Joker for Hoglander swap though....because why not. As you say, he works his ass off....and we could use more guys like that.

True, true. Vancouver is in desperate shape, maybe take a 3rd then. :D

Not sure if Hoglander would be a good replacement for Greenway, and the deal is risky. Send them Lafferty.

It's not the cap hit
I dont want him taking a spot from kids
I'd take a draft pick or expiring contract

This is how we got into this mess

The NHL is not a developmental league.

If the kids can’t earn a NHL spot there are tons of lower leagues for them. This is a professional league about winning at a professional level

Actually it looks interesting, look at his goals, the guy works a lot front of the net. He used to be quite promising too, maybe a change of scenery will help.

Him talking about only ELCs and not trading for veterans after seeing where this team is at 5 years later and still being convinced this is the way… jeez

How can you possibly still be saying this lmao

My concern is that last year is an outlier for him.
Well, I don't know the reason, maybe a different coach or some hidden injury, a year of decline or something else. I just look at the analytics and highlights, and he scores goals quite often while being near the net, which is very attractive.

Where did JJP go>?
I think he could be a good trade chip for the same 2C. Or he could take Zucker's place next season on the first line, although he has already played there and I would prefer to add some vet if Zucker does not resign and gone.

As we are playing a bit better after the depths of the losing streak, I think its time to accept reality a bit. We aren't making the playoffs this year. The hole is too big, the roster isn't good enough to recover.

Short term, I think the TDL is pretty obvious:

You move on from your pending UFAs and extract value. That's Greenway, Zucker, Joker if anyone wants him. I'd be open to bringing Zucker back in July....but only on 1 year deals.

My big hope is that Adams is moved on from sooner rather than later. We don't need an unqualified GM wildly swinging to save his job. Interim GM title for Karmanos is fine.

I'm not interested in moving any of the RFAs, at least for futures. These are questions for the next GM.

Next summer likely depends on GM/Coach and what system they want to play. It could be a big blow up or simply a retool.
