To merge two thoughts from two different threads - I've never really considered that Pegula was accepting losing to cut costs..... unless he's trying to sell.

Maybe there is some fuel behind the Jacobs speculation..........

I think that's the Pittsburgh Pirates philosophy, right?

1. Keep actual costs to an absolute minimum
2. Participate in revenue sharing
3. Profit!

If you happen to win that is incidental.

NYC - UES
Some of my fear from early this season seem to be coming true. Which is, the guys they signed long term and really committed to just aren't good enough. Not good enough to eat up that much of the cap, they haven't kept on the same trajectory they were before getting signed, we haven't hit on mid round picks, and nobody wants to sign here due to weather/city/reputation for losing.

Guess we have to:
- Eat it for many years to come
- Sell low on players we signed long term (I.E. trade cozens plus a 1st for X), to get out of contracts. But then we aren't starting from below nothing.

How depressing! Thank GOD we have JA17.

Word of the wise to you all - don’t try to suggest to Canucks fans that we don’t want futures. They don’t react well.

Similarly, don't point out that JT is going to be 32 and recently quit on his team for a break unlike anything I've ever heard about in this league shy of substance abuse issues (not saying it is that).

Cozens and Samuelsson still have team-friendly buy outs. But I think we can get something for Cozens (even though it would be selling low).

Because that seems loonie for DRW to do? Buffalo has a fine tradition of casting off players just as they are getting to peak years but Yzerman in Detroit and Tampa hasn't.
Who knows if there are some other guys there with a change of scenery or if they were looking at Philly players.

We are in different divisions and I doubt it would be 1st, we could also suggest someone else.
Conference, same thing, since they took back Borgen after moving out Trouba its likely they were targeting a D and probably a RD, so all we would really have to offer is Joker.

Change Stiga to Svechkov and OK.

But they cut Kakko, so there might be a spot open. I suggested Krebs and a few Rangers fans seemed to agree.
