I doubt every other GM is offering up trash deals. Some GMs are. And a lot of times, they are guys you are never going to get deals done with.

Or maybe it’s Adams being told not to make deals. Pegula told the players to not expect a big deal.

:dunno:
Ok, so GMs calling and giving their best offers first? You really think thats the way it works? I highly doubt a GM picks up the phone makes and offer and no negotiating takes place and its just accepted like that. Of course with Kevyn Adams he just says NO! and hangs up the phone. What benefit is there by negotiating this way?

We were told by Adams he is working the phones and can make trades so we kknow its not Adams being told that unless you think Adams is lying to us.

See how its starting to sound like a lot of bullsh** coming from this franchise?

Some GMs are reasonable. Others aren’t.

I can understand if Adams doesn’t have time for absolute BS lowball offers right now.

Really? Can you tell me which ones are reasonable? I am speechless people are defending Adams right now.

Just for reference. Darcy Regier was called unreasonable.

So, I get it was reported, but do we really think Pegula flew all the way to Montreal just to say "hey, it's good guys, we believe in you!"

I don't buy the reporting.

His team is in the shitter, lost 11 games in a row, playoffs are still far away. He should probably be calling other GMs for any potential roster upgrades. If he doesn't like some of Drury's attitudes in the negotiations, then he can call Trotz, Verbeek, Francis, Grier, etc. In that situation, you're trying to shake up that team somehow, even if it's not a huge deal.

The f*** is he using his time for? He’s not allowed to do anything so there’s no point in evaluating. Or he is allowed to do things and clearly isn’t spending a second evaluating shit.

Your team is in dire need of change. People are calling you about trades? The things youve said are so hard but also that you pretend to work on all the time? And you don’t even call back to talk to GMs?

f*** this guy.

What the f*** does Kevyn Adams do all day?

No, a GM gave an unreasonable offer...hurry hurry hang up the phone and don't say anything else but no and don't call back.

Want to know what is an unreasonable GM? That one.

To tell the team that soda now costs $1 in the locker room

That doesn't explain anything and is speculation. You said some GMs are reasonable. I know for a fact Darcy Regier was called unreasonable by other GMs.

Tell me which ones are reasonable?

Insiders have been saying that Adams has been active ever since he was open for business at the GM meetings over a month ago.

But yeah, now he’s doing nothing whatsoever all of a sudden.

If he is, my guess is that it is because that was what he has been told to do.

You are pivoting from I would hang up the phone too
to thats not really happening. I don't really understand why you are defending Adams.

To be honest its kind of irrelevant how he handles things because he gets judged on his body of work and its awful.

Why did he fly there then?
I don't know. But for Pegula to fly to Montreal just to tell that to the team? That's wild.

I don't think that accomplishes anything. I think there's more to this, and the reporting is speculation. Because reporters were not in the room when Pegula was there.

No point in getting worked up hearing from 2nd or 3rd hand sources that state vague comments that feels like a lot of information is lost in translation, not provided at time of conversation, or purposely left out for ratings/clicks.

I don’t know which ones are and which ones aren’t.

Just like nobody knows what these firm offers are that Adams hasn’t countered. If they are decent offers, they shouldn’t need counters.

There are insiders also saying that Adams shouldn’t move guys like Cozens now. But, fans don’t want to hear that, either. The drought means they are way past any patience with a build through the draft.

But, Adams and Pegula seem to be way more patient than fans.

Just thought I would post this so people have perspective. Just because a GM is unreasonable it doesn't mean you stop working with him.

Who is defending him?

I am questioning criticizing him off of this one report that lacks context and making claims beyond what the post said.

I’ve said time and again that Adams was an unqualified hire and the lack of results shouldn’t be surprising because of his lack of experience and lack of resources around him.

Its so embarrassing to act like this group just isn't capable of better than what we're seeing
I mean you can look forever at what a team should be on paper and say well look this is what we should be or you can look to the Cowboys who defy whats on paper as do so many other teams and realize you can't judge what's on paper.

The reporting doesn't make sense to me.

Pegula hires his guys, Beane and McDermott, and gives them wide latitude to make moves. He's with the team a lot in the locker room after games, and in the draft room, but it's clear Beane is the guy.

Pegula promotes his guy, Adams, and allows him to trade Eichel, Reinhart, and Ristolainen, the three franchise cornerstones. He gets to make coaching hires. Adams is reported by multiple sources to be trying to add to his group. But after that, Pegula gives Adams strict orders not to make any more trades? And then flies to Montreal to tell the team that they aren't making moves? All in the midst of a double-digit losing streak? None of that adds up.

No reporter was in the room to verify what Pegula said. I don't buy it. At all.

Content is irrelevant. I don't accept his failure. Its irrelevant if the offer is bad then you counter with an equally insulting offer and go from there.

Adams is a failure so by that measure his negotiating tactics are a failure too and there is no context that excuses that.

I agree a lot doesn't make sense because what comes out of management but on the other side of things trades aren't happening and we were just told no trades would be made.

So the report could be false but it still lines up with what is being said when Pegs and Adams flew to Montreal.

They are probably looking to fleece the Sabres.
Then you counter with an equally fleecing offer. Not just hang up the phone and turn off the ringer.
