Flyers would love to add Cozens and Power, don’t know if we’d have anything of interest though. I’d start with York+ for Power but he’s another LHD.

Your roster on paper is solid. Definitely seems like a leadership issue. Need to make a move for a few solid leaders for the locker room since ownership and GM don’t seem to be going anywhere.
I think the Flyers are not very good trade partners. If we trade Power + Cozens + maybe a pick/prospect, we need to get back at least a good 2C and a top 4 RD (who is decent on defense). We already have a lot of left-handed defenders.

I know you guys would never want him back and he probably wouldn’t wanna go back but who you just described is Risto. He has been amazing defensively this year and last before he got hurt. He has started activated offensively a little more again and his defensive game hasn’t suffered at all. I’m not sure what the advanced metrics say but by the eye test he is a totally different player. He has been a lot of fun to watch. Brad Shaw has done wonders with him, and if he can turn Risto into the player he is now, I can’t imagine how good Owen Power would be under him, hence the interest lol

Can't help the feeling that the roster now is where they were when Regier said there would be pain - the center depth was questionable (Roy coming back off the leg injury from Kulikov riding him into the boards, moving on from Connolly due to the constant injuries, Hodgson's health problems, Ennis not really being a center) and overloaded on defense who didn't ever reach the levels one would hope.

I would like to get out of this timeline now.
This roster is quite a bit younger, so there's still some potential to squeeze out of them, but I did start a thread about a rebuild if the team continues to suck. The loser mentality really runs deep with this crew. Now, rebuild doesn't mean sell everyone, at least to me. Perhaps retool is a better word. I'd keep Tage, Benson and Dahlin. Kulich would take a lot to pry from my hands. Choose between Power and Byram. Everyone else should be on the table if they can't turn this ship around.

I really wouldn't mind Ruff sticking around for a couple of more seasons. He a solid coach with a ton of respect.

Maybe I'm being irrational and am just tired of looking at their faces, but man- there's just so many embarrassing moments with this core- Dahlin writing a letter to the fans about the team turning a corner only to follow it up with terrible play, the team stopping their salute to the fans last season, Oko getting pissy toward the fans, them not having a 3 games winning streak until the end of the year last year, their exit interviews pretty much admitting they mailed it in last offseason, and then just their play in general.

Not to defend Dahlin, but he plays every game with a back injury and seems to be in pain, yet still plays more than anyone else and sometimes even quite well.

Overall I agree. Benson and Dahlin are the ones I would keep, Tage probably too, although I didn't like what he said after the game. One of Power/Byram needs to go, build a balanced defense, get two top 4 RDs that are good at defense. Get 2C and maybe another forward for top 6.

Do you really want a Gilbert / Clifton pairing being on the ice for 20 or so minutes?

Not to mention... what if Dahlin's back keeps him out for a game or so?
I don't think we have another choice. This team is incredibly weak in front of there net and that is our physical tandem. If Dahlin is out then you call up Ryjo and run something like:

Byram Clifton
Ryjo Gilbert
Power Joki

You have to reduce Power's minutes until he cleans up his net front play. Bryson is good in spurts and is a very good number 7 but when he has to play extended periods he just wears down and defaults back to bad habits

I don’t think he knows what light years are.

The article pretty much sums up how we are all feeling. The only thing I can't agree with and I have seen it a bit lately is the cap space piece. The main reason Skinner was bought out wasn't to open up millions in cap space. Spending to the cap doesn't mean success. It does however, allow in-season flexibility if there is a big fish available that Adams wants to get. There just doesn't seem to be a team ready to burn it down yet and that is a problem.

It would have been easier to do all this in the summer, no one trades this in December. I don't see any logic, and Adams screwed up.

Trade this man while he's having another year of a high point total. I dont want to be the franchise that pays him with how often he's dinged up. Obviously, we'll have to see how the next month or so pans out before a big trade like that, but man- he would garner a crazy amount of attention at the deadline, and by the team this team may be competing in the playoffs (hahahaha), he's going to be in his 30s, and I dont like investing in injury prone players who play a mildly physical game at that age.

I would make Tuch captain.

I would trade him.

If we change the captain, then it is definitely not now. Although I do not understand the problem with the captain, who plays with a back injury all season, what should he do? Teach Power and Jokiharju to play better or teach Quinn to score goals?

At this point I only see Dahlin or Benson as captains in the future. No one else. Tage says after the game: "We thought it would be easy." Tuch he plays effortlessly in some games and swims like a f***ing fish.

Most of you didn't like the trades I proposed this week. But I see many of you are waking up to the types of moves which are needed. It won't be fixed by a tinker here, or moderate add there.

I think your off your rocker on that one, he was the only one passionate about the loss last night calling horse shit. But if another reset comes I understand it
Well he's definitely not untouchable to me, like almost everyone else on this team. I don't care what he says in the press if he doesn't put in the effort on the ice sometimes, I've seen it with him. Also he needs a new contract soon and I don't know if I'd want to pay him big money considering his age and injury history.

Tuch, Benson, Dahlin stay.
EVERYBODY else should be available. Honestly, I could be swayed on Dahlin too.
For me only Benson stay. Also I'm not sure I want to trade our 1D and 1C, but it depends on the package. All the others can leave.

That's why it depends on where this team is at closing in on the deadline. If theyre out of the race, and sellers, then Tuch would bring back a HAUL. A damn near PPG power forward (i use that term loosely) are the type of players contending GMs salivate over.

I'm also in the camp of not paying a man who has dealt with a ton of injuries throughout his career, plays a moderately physical game, and is going to be on the wrong side of 30 for his next contract. If we were contending, absolutely keep him, but I dont think we're anywhere close to a legit playoff team, so fire the GM, get a ton of value this TDL and offseason for the players we'll be trading.
