My brain is running wild with trade ideas. How about these:

Owen Power for Brady Tkachuk

1st + Kulich + Peterka whatever other BS they want for Roman Josi

Honestly I have no clue what Josi is worth at this point. I don’t even know if he’s good anymore. I just know Nashville looks like a corpse worth picking over and I want some vets that know what they are doing.

Here's the thing. You guys don't have a bad roster. You just don't have people who know how to create a winning organization. When you hired Ruff, rather than a guy like Evason, Boudreau, or Berube, it was pretty obvious to me that whoever made the decision blew it.

Players leave BUF and do better afterwards. Very few leave and get worse. I am talking the present day team- basically the past ten years or so. That can happen to any team once in a while, but it happens on a regular basis in Buffalo. That's a failure in leadership.

Nobody has hired Boudreau and those other two wouldn't even return a phone call from Pegula. Lindy was hired but forced to keep almost all of Donny's staff instead of bringing in his own guys. Our GM (who had ZERO qualifications for the job) has no clue how to construct a roster and just grabs pieces of a puzzle with no regard to fit (eg: Bo Byram). He has also decided that a roster with no real veterans and the youngest roster in the league was also a good idea and not a surefire recipe for failure that anyone with an IQ above 68 could figure out. The fact that an organization whose best player was killed in the offseason is right now in a million times better position in every single way than this hopeless and disgusting shithole of an organization says it all.

What is the reason that Lindy was forced to keep Don's staff? who's f***ing idea was that and why?

IMO, this is Adams’ staff. Adams had a plan to not only “develop” players for the future, but he also had a plan to develop future coaches and other roles on the staff. Don and Lindy hires allowed him to do that plan without much pushback. Don was hired to develop the players. Adams wanted guys he’s worked with to get developed through different roles. See why Matt Ellis was pegged as the PP Coach for way too long.

I honestly suspect Ruff very much regrets buying into this snake oil and being HC of this franchise again. I know theres only 32 jobs, but somebody who has been around the biz as long as him must be able to smell bs a mile away, and theres no way that anything relating to Terry Pegula doesn't smell like bs. Its obvious that Ruff is now tarnishing his legacy by coming back to this circus. I hope for Terry's sake that saving 6 million to damn one of the franchise's last rays of happy nostalgia was worth it

I don't know why Ottawa would do this, but you're making the same mistake Adams did. Why do we need Roman Josi? If you trade Power, then find two top 4 defensive RDs, otherwise our defense will sucks again. Like I said, the Dahlin - Byram pairing won't work permanently and should be a temporary measure due to our GM's stupid roster composition.

Dahlin - xxxx
Byram - xxxx

I'd like to see Ruff send a message against Winnipeg.

Zucker Thompson Malenstyn
Benson McLeod Rosen
Peterka Kulich Tuch
NAK Krebs Kozak

Dahlin Byram
Gilbert Clifton
Power Jokiharju

UPL

IR Lafferty

Quinn, Cozens and Bryson need to sit, it's not debatable at this time. Power needs to see 15 or less next game. I'd love to pair him with Gilbert and tell Gilbert to drag Power into the fight.

agreed and I'm seriously worried for his health as I'm sure his family is as well.

Do you really want a Gilbert / Clifton pairing being on the ice for 20 or so minutes?

Not to mention... what if Dahlin's back keeps him out for a game or so?

I don't see a defense-for-defense deal as workable but that may just be me.
We traded with the NY Islanders for Pat LaFontaine over 33 years ago! (Holy shit I'm getting old) That worked out great for us then, so how about something like:

Barzal + Dobson

Cozens + Power + Rosen +

??

Looks interesting, then add another defensive top 4 RD and maybe some physical winger in the top 6/9.

What would JT Miller cost?
I think a lot, and his situation with the suspension of his career is still unclear. But it would probably start with Power/Byram+.

Flyers would love to add Cozens and Power, don’t know if we’d have anything of interest though. I’d start with York+ for Power but he’s another LHD.

Your roster on paper is solid. Definitely seems like a leadership issue. Need to make a move for a few solid leaders for the locker room since ownership and GM don’t seem to be going anywhere.
