I'm fine with Byram as long as he isn't asking for a similar contract as Power's. If he is, he can be traded along with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Neither, in my opinion, have come close to earning that kind of money with their play. The more I think about it, the more I'm becoming enamored with the Toronto model. One primary PMD (Rielly) and the the rest of the defense rounded out with big, cheap, defensively stout dmen. We've already have an all-world dman in Dahlin, with the assets we have it shouldn't be a Herculean task to rework the rest of the defense.
What if Reilly gets hurt? I think you still have to have a plan B and a guy who moves the puck other than Dahlin. I have no problem trading Byram or Power or even both if the deals are good and we get the pieces return that we need. Also, you can build a defense any number of ways, but to me it has to be balanced.

Absolutely. If anything what I took from Adams speaking after the deadline is just that. He admitted to making mistakes. He admitted to being too passive on making moves. I think he’s reached the “f*ck it” stage and we will start to see some action.

Id bet big money that Samuelsson will be moved in the summer.
People thought it finally clicked with Adams after last year’s TDL presser with a “new attitude/energy” and he just happened to be the same GM he’s always been.

It kind of makes sense why Pegula sticks with him, when the fans buy into it pretty easily.

Do you think he intentionally shits the bed in the midseason press conference so it can seem like progress when he just reiterates that he “hasn’t been good enough,” at the end of season PC? I’m legitimately considering this possibility.

I think he’s terrible with PR instincts and his pressers are different ways in which he’s being coached to “attack” them by the Sabres staff. Because they are different, people are reading them as if he’s “learning” from his mistakes.

As for his actual management that’s a whole other thesis length of analysis, hahaha

Same GM he’s always been? Not for me.

He was all about the youth. Not bringing in vets to block anyone. Players playing through the mistakes and learning on the go. That wasn't working anymore

Since that presser

He hired the vet coach he felt we needed.

He traded a top prospect in Savoie for an NHL player at a position we needed to address.

He brought in Zucker to address the leadership issue. And now has resigned Zucker and Greenway realizing the team needs more vets like them.

He realizes his core wasn't right and hes beginning to re-shuffle. Its Cozens now and Im expecting more in the summer.

You can hate how he’s done this job overall. But I do think he’s been better the past year.

This summer will definitely be his last go of things dont improve next yr. For all our sakes, hopefully he gets it right.

I'm VERY interested to see what the Offer sheet numbers look like. If we are seeing a cap rise of 8.5% from 88 to 95.5M, a straight adjustment of the offersheet numbers is interesting:

Specifically, essentially a just below 5M AAV is only a 2nd round.

A 7.45M AAV deal is now just a 1st and a 3rd.

Do you think the Sabres want to pay Peterka just shy of 7.5M a year?

Do you think the Sabres would trade Peterka for a 1st and a 3rd from a contender who is going to draft in the late 20s every year?

This could be a big problem for cheap owners this summer

Better????? There's a grand total of two teams in the entire f***ing league worse than us. The dumb bastard shouldn't just be fired, he should be tarred and feathered and run out on a rail. There is no other pro sports organization where 5 years of failing this horribly wouldn't get you fired.

Like acquiring a guy who has been beyond awful for two seasons now is going to help them win games?
There is still not a reasonable argument for why trading Brady Tkachuk largely for a top 5 pick helps the Senators out.

That would be like a Ducks fan saying that the Sabres should trade Dahlin for a top 5 pick because he would be happier on the beach in SoCal.

We would laugh at that logic so hard.

Explain to me how the proposed trade makes any sort of roster building sense for the Sens.

Most teams usually shift about a fifth to a quarter of their personnel. Above that, it often takes unforeseen circumstances for a team with more than that to jell. *shrug* Swapping them all or almost all probably won't happen and if it does, it probably won't make them all that much better.

So maybe a little bit early but it looks like we'll be drafting high.

Martone, Misa, Hagens - what does the NHL readiness look like? Not talking rushing guys but there is a decent chance we have one coming into the system.

My take that should push even harder for a quantity for quality trade. Adams referenced his goal of finding a partner for Power at his press conference. Kulich, Quinn, Helenius, Rosen, Ostlund, Wahlberg plus the 2026 first are fighting for like 1/2 top 9 roster spot without trades?

It's just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point. Everyone knows the reason for the neverending on-ice failure is a systemic one, and the neverending failure of players here is a symptom and not the cause.
