What if I told you that Petterson and Cozens were both at 1.8 primary points/60 at even strength this season?

If EPete could get PP1 going (he's at 4.2 primary points per 60 on the PP this season), then that would be wonderful.

But, with the Sabres luck....

If you can do the basis of a Byrum-Pettersson deal "I" would do it. What would the add (presuming) be for the Sabres ? a 1st and a player ?

The problem is of course you create a hole you to fill on D in another deal on top of it.

Lindy's comments this morning that Samuelsson has found his game tells me something as well about what the thinking is in the front office.

Will Samuelsson make it 10 games without getting injured? The issue with Sammy isn't skill its staying healthy.

If we trade a defenseman away and Sammy goes down it won't be pretty.

Lindy said this morning on wgr, Kulich moves better in the center of the ice.
If Kulich can take the 2C next year maybe that makes Cozens expendable. I would trade Cozens if its upgrading this team.

We aren't winning with him.

Well I'd rather not trade Power because our likelihood of it blowing up in our face far outweighs the potential benefit.

Plus Pettersson doesn't fill any particular need persay. He's just another smaller lankier guy that isn't exactly physical in any manner. Plus I have read he treats hockey like a job and not his passion; players in that category tend to be more out for themselves than willing to give up the body to win.

JT Miller is a headcase but one who obsesses over winning; I want to know why the two don't like one another or if that is entirely false.
Pettersson is a two-way 1C who plays decent defense, versatile, I don't know how that doesn't fill our need. He had some kind of leg injury, maybe that's why his numbers dropped. Of course they should look at his medical first.

Miller is too risky, this is his third team, there were rumors that he had a conflict with Horvat, with someone else, now with Pettersson. He may be obsessed with winning, but I don't need a potential 32-year-old cancer in the youth locker room, plus he has a complete NMC, and Pettersson doesn't have trade protection yet. Also Dahlin and Pettersson are friends, which can also make it easier for Pete to adapt to the city and to the new team.

Never said I wanted Miller, I'm just worried his problem with Pettersson could be legitimate.

The problem could be legitimate both ways.

EP is likely not "intense" or "driven" enough for Miller while Miller is too high-strung for EP.
Z, You need a top 6F. You have cap space to add top 6F. Presumably you were not able to add Top 6F this summer. Now you "may" have a another chance to add a top 6F... you at least have to try and go for it. If they can use Byrum for the basis for a deal I would at least push hard.

Cozens-Byrum for Petersson +

Then a secondary deal for D help.

I'm not arguing otherwise. If there's a chance to get EP40, we should go for it. I am unconcerned with any "issue" between Miller and EP.

Hopefully Vancouver is player here, as they have a asset most of us like, where as other teams rumored to like Cozens for ie in Detroit and Nashville do not.

I keep wondering if there's a deal that makes sense that is structured around Power and Cozens for Berniers and Oleksiak and something else
Does Seattle need a Power with Dunn and Montour in the lineup. I'm not sure that's a good value for us though. Larsson could be instead Oleksiak. While I like Tolvanen, he seems like a perfect addition to the line with Benny and Kulich.

You giving way too much. Cozens or Byram are the main pieces in that deal the rest is picks and/or prospects

If Cozens is available there will be a bidding war for him.

That something else better be significant.

It would be, at the very least to make the money work for Seattle.

No idea. I got the impression people weren't overly thrilled with Montour this season but I honestly haven't paid attention to him

Hopefully not, trading a 1st overall defenseman in his 3rd year and maligned former 30 goal scorer for a guy who never escaped the sophomore slump and an ok Dman

Honest question….

The Sabres organization seems to be dysfunctional, and the team seems to lack a true leader.

We are looking for a #1 center for sure but aren’t we looking for an identity player? Is EP40 really that type of player, especially what we’ll have to give up to get him?!?!?!

If he’s just another listless player with no heart….pass

The cap hit will need to balance out

Cozens+Byram/Power +Poltapov+ for EP+Walinder+Lekkerimaki+salary+

Then we alter the uniforms to swedish blue and gold....

We need to win hockey games. A bona fide 1C helps us do that.

Do we -also- need to add quality veteran leaders? Yes. But it's not an either/or proposition.

LOL if you think we'd get anything CLOSE to that return.

Byram+Cozens for EP40+either Soucy or Myers would be best guess.

I like Berniers more than Cozens and Oleksiak is there for salary. That's why I said "something else"
