Hello, fine folks of Canuckland,

It's an honour to be doing this for another season. I hope we'll have an amazing time watching our team and its prospects this season.

For those who aren't sure why certain names are on this list while others aren't, I've chosen to include all players in the organization who are 24 years of age or younger and who haven't established themselves at the NHL level yet. This includes players on AHL contracts, but not players signed to ECHL deals or below. If you'd like somebody tracked that isn't being tracked, please let me know and I'll be sure to add them.

As always your participation in this thread is much appreciated. I'm just a guy who likes filling in tables and looking at things from a numbers-based point-of-view, the actual scouting reports and news about our boys, and the discussions about their play and chances of making the NHL are the real lifeblood of this thread.

With warmest regards,

Please note, there's work to be done on this post. I hope to have it up to my standards by Monday.

Pfft table is already outdated. Fernstrom has a goal and an assist today. Pffffft. (Jk thank you for doing this)

Wow!.....actual YouTube highlights of Canuck prospects in action!.....seems like forever. But where are the fans? Looks like these Swedish junior teams are playing in mostly empty buildings.

J20 might be a little too easy for Fernstrom.

A tad confused. do we really have 2 Fernstroms? You have Melvin, and another one as V. Fernström. The stat lines are quite different. If so, what does the V stand for?

Nope, we don't have an extra Fernstrom, that was just a typo. The stat lines that have a season's worth of games played filled in show a player's last season to remind people what our recently drafted players did before we picked them up or to show what players who either graduated (Hoglander) or aged out (Hirose) of prospect status did.

Is Forsell really a viable prospect anymore?
Probably not but the same could be said of a half dozen players I'll be tracking this season.

I find it easier to apply simple rules rather than arbitrarily choosing when prospects to track. The rules are:

1) Players must be under 24 years-old to start the season or fresh to the North American game (See Kuzmenko in his first season).
2) Players must be under our control or signed in Abbotsford.
3) Players must not have established themselves as NHL regulars.
4) Players can be added by request if there is an edge case someone would like to have tracked.

From there I track the stats as they happen.

I didn’t mean for tracking purposes, just specifically related to Forsell ie if anyone still thinks if there’s anything there still.

Here is a scouting report on him

He’s a talented playmaker who consistently creates opportunities when he has the puck, though he doesn’t drive play or excel in transitions, and his skating speed doesn’t make up for his size disadvantage. Currently, he’s a one-skill player, but fortunately, that skill is strong and projectable. Given his potential, he’s a player worth taking a chance on in the draft.

Danielsson makes good reads on and off the puck, is poised with it and is a remarkable passer

Draftin Europe 2023
Thanks heaps for identifying him and supplying the link. Looks like he's eligible for the upcoming draft. On the basis of that one highlight, I agree with the final comment in the scouting assessment above.

I'm hoping, of course, that Fernstrom plays in the SHL, but if he's down in junior on a line with this guy, I'll go out on a limb and say that the point totals will be ... high.
