Buying that Alriksson T shirt was such a smart investment. Not sure If people realize this but I’m originally from Guelph and my parents still have season tickets in their older years to the Storm , I went to the games all the time growing up ,

Now everyone knows why I am this so called “OHL Guy”

Alriksson gets the 1st star but I think it could have gone to the goaltender Gillespie who stopped over 40 shots on goal but he ends up with the 2nd star.

Nice to see Alriksson finding his groove - needs to finish the year around a point per game to be taken seriously as a prospect.

Side note, Alriksson played his last couple games against 6’6 centre Kieron Walton on Sudbury who is ripping it up in his D+1 with 39 points in 25 games. Taken by the Jets in the 6th round - was hoping we would take him.

Wow…he’s 16 points clear of the 2nd place scorer on his team (who is also 2 years older than him).

What is his skating like?

Edit: Just watched some of his footage and he actually moves pretty well too.

Really encouraged by Alriksson's production of late, starting to track more in line with a guy who might be able to eke out an existence in the middle 6.

The Jets had 4 picks in the draft and I've watched 2 of them play and they have both impressed. Kevin He and Kieron Walton. Very impressive scouting for the Jets

Ya, he moves very well for a guy his size. His production last year was okay but he was behind Dvorsky, Musty, and Goyette on the depth chart so didn’t get many PP looks. Good skater and tools at his size is why I wanted us to pick him.

Well, damn he looks like an absolute find for the Jets.

We didn’t have a 5th..so I guess we would have had to take him in the 4th (instead of Patterson).

…him and Alriksson as twin towers in the system would have been fun to follow!

Riley Pattersson had an assist last night , and has scored his 9th goal of the season tonight , nice little two game point scoring streak let’s see if he can return to form with his mini two game surge

I remember going through the draft last year and not understanding how a 6’6 C with decent production went 187th overall. Crazy to see his breakout now.

Make that 2 goals and double digits in goals for the season with 10 for Riley Pattersson , Barrie is running away with it 5-2
And I think Patterson had the OT winner or Barrie on Thursday night, so he's starting to really heat up.

Same as last year in his draft year.....a slow start until December but then really started to pile up the points. Thought he looked decent at both the Prospect Tournament and at the main camp. And a natural center, where the Canucks are organizationally weak.

Went back and watched the Dorrington game on Nov 23rd. Recorded some footage and cut out the boring stuff. Tons of special teams this game so if you are wondering why there are such jaring differences in cuts that's why. He made a few little errors, but he played well. He's MUCH better when he plays physical, reminds me a bit of Zadorov in that sense.

Here is just the hits incase you can't be bothered watching a 2 minute video. I didn't include everything, but I think he must have ended up with 6-7 good hard checks.

Fun fact, he's 6th in the NCAA for TOI. Even given that, he's still 3rd on his team in TOI. Hard to get mad at a prospect getting to play 23:33 minutes a game on average though.

Do you 'think' the Canucks have 'determined' that they are 'organizationally weak' at 'center'? Possibly by way of 'internal' 'review'?

Well, with Sasson up with the big club, there isn't a single center who projects as an NHL player in Abbotsford. And in recent drafts they've basically loaded up with d -men and wingers.

On the big club, they've got Pettersson and Raty who are natural centers. Miller can play center but often finds himself on the wing. And both Suter and Blueger play in the middle, but also move around. And of course both Miller and Blueger are now on the wrong side of 30.

So I hardly think they need 'an internal review' to determine that they're organizationally weak at center. That's because they 'are' weak at center.

Romani isn’t a natural centre but he can play centre . Man we really need Romani to have a monster second half when he comes back . Then our AHL team will be really exciting to watch next season with him , Alriksson and Mynio all making the jump to the pros as part of our 2005 class.

Otherwise this 2024 draft class is looking extremely underwhelming outside of Melvin Fernstrom’s emergence .

Pattersson needs to keep up this pace to salvage the season

But Romani needs to regain his last seasons form once he returns .

Can you remind us roughly when Romani is expected back?

I wanna take a guess and say just before the Christmas break or right around the World Juniors based of the information I am reading out of North Bay . He will be in line for roughly 30-33 games to finish the season assuming he is back around this timeline .

He is skating again with the team so that’s a positive

Expecting anything from a draft where we just had a 3rd, a 4th, two 6th's and a 7th is dreaming.
We will be exceptionally lucky to get a solid AHL'er and/or a legit trade piece out of any of them.
Anything is possible, of course, but some things are more likely.
