I see this sort of comment a lot. Yes, his defensive side is atrocious, but it wasn’t always like that. It wasn’t that long ago that he was decent on the defensive side of the puck. He was never stellar but very palatable. I don’t think he’s lost that ability, just the drive. I think in the right situation, whether it’s here or on another team, he could get that back. He seems to me to have lost a bit of his love for the game.
I think Scheifele has wanted out of Winnipeg for a long while now and Chevy has done nothing with his requests and he has his nose out of joint which carries a lot of influence with other players that aren’t happy with their situation. I think once Scheifele gets moved we will likely see a couple career years out of him and he will play in a way that that fan base will be very happy with what they will consider a steal from Winnipeg.

Would sure be nice if a C like Ryan Leonard or Oliver Moore drops just a bit to us.
I like Leonard, but thought he was a RW?

Wheeler has Moore and Smith firmly in the top 10 after the u18s.

Ritchie and Yager look like our best bets for a top 6 C today.

Ritchie and Danielson seem like multifaceted centers and would be good picks at 17 imo.
it's convenient that the top two RHD are also ranked in that area (Reinbacher and Pellikka).

Well if we get that Florida pick in the Dubois deal we may be able to snag a good C and good RD prospect.

I don't know much about either of those two yet. Going to have to start my research.

At age 30 I'm not so sure. I think you get some good years out of him but I think the best is behind him.

I see a similar type progression as Spezza who was in a similar situation in Ottawa.

He went from a ppg top C in the capital to a 60 point 2C in Dallas. Still a really good player but in a lesser role settled into playing well in that role.

I doubt anyone trades for Scheifele and gives him the same opportunity he's had here over the last number of years.

RHD is probably our 2nd biggest need as I see it. Would be very happy with one of those two. In house, I'm guessing that Chisholm might be the next man up (LHD) followed closely by Gawanke (RHD) who is NHL ready in my opinion.

McKenzie has an updated list with a top-12 and 5 "honourable mentions":

1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Smith
4. Carlsson
5. Michkov
6. Dvorsky
7. Leonard
8. Benson
9. Perreault
10. Reinbacher
11. Barlow
12. Wood

HM:
Yager
Moore
Danielson
Sandin-Pellikka
Honzek

Given how draft boards tend to vary, it seems likely that a few from this group would likely be available at the Jets' pick at #19. I would guess that the more likely "fallers" (to #19) from this group would be:

Perreault
Yager
Danielson
Honzek
Sandin-Pellika
Wood
Barlow

Thoughts?

Any of Perreault Yager Danielson would be an excellent draft.

You don’t make strides in your organization by drafting players that don’t have high ceilings. Just FYI. The argument that “well he’s a guaranteed NHLer” is not good if they just become a 3rd line player. Take a swing.

I stumbled upon the following video on my YT feed. This kid just got USHL player of the year and will be eligible in 2024. Probably a player people know already about but what I actually want to point to

THE GUY IS CALLED MACKLIN CELEBRINI

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WE NEED HIM!

Imagine our new generation on the ice in 2026/2027

Cole Perfetti, Rutger McGroarty, Chaz Lucius, Macklin Celebrini, Domenic DiVincentiis

This would be the most epic NHL roster name wise in the history of the NHL

*edit

Shoot we also need Frantelli. What are the odds of him falling down to our pick? :sarcasm:
