Speculation: The 2019 Draft Thread - Sabres pick 7th

My hope is for two seasons of misery on the ice in St. Louis and San Jose. Nothing against either franchise, but if it'll help the Sabres then **** 'em. Both franchises miss the playoffs this year and StL gets a top 10 pick -> both picks get deferred to 2020 -> both teams miss the playoffs again and give us two high first rounders -> win Alexis Lafreniere lottery with one of the traded picks -> profit

Of course everyone would love this but I’ll personally be happy if the firsts are just higher than 25th ov. These teams are both going for it

I have friends coaching and in mgmt w different USHL clubs. Knight gets talked about like Hughes. Yes he is a goalie, but the comment i like best from someone I trust, "he was born to challenge people to beat him." Tireless worker, and icewater in his veins. I would spend a late first.

I wouldn't trade any of the picks from the first round.

Imagine walking away with Kakko/Cozens, Vlasic/Robertson, and Knight in the first round, and getting Murray/Vukojevic in the second.

No way I'm trading out of that future.

Here is my early version (pre Hlinka Tournament) of the 2019 draft. I am sure it will drastically change when hockey starts to be played again. Players can start their draft year as completely different prospects e.g. Ryan Strome who bulked over the summer and became a top-end prospect after spending the previous year as a skinny-minny. Anyone wanting the complete list (430 + players) can message me.
Oh, I purposely made the list for the first 4 rounds as 123 so you could point out who I had missed. Probably, should have left room for more than one, huh – next time.

The problem with goalies is even if you hit on one, if that it’s still going to take 4,5 before he’s even good enough to play. What GM is going to want to wait around that long for a maybe?

Cozens is a more traditional power winger who can play in front of the net. But he's got good speed as well.

Kakko is the better prospect, but Cozens has a skillset the team doesn't really have right now.

I want a Barrett Hayton type centre prospect next year with one of the three first rounders. A guy who will do it all and has offensive talent to go with it. I’d also love to get a couple skilled wingers who can score and a right shot D In the top 2 rounds.

I’m expected as of now our first to be in that 7-10 range, and St.Louis to be in 10-20 range (there’s no way they are getting through that division) and the Sharks pick to be very late.

I get it. I also think true power forwards take a while to develop. If they've got the right tools, slow progression is the way to go.
