- Still reads as My at a glance
You're the only person I've ever heard say that. I suppose once you've seen it that way then there's not much to do to get you to not see it.
- The thickness is still inconsistent
Except that it isn't.
- That Islanders Distorted Type to me is the biggest eye sore of the whole thing
It's hand-drawn lettering from the 70s. It may be one of the things that could use some tweaking but despite your protestations, it reads well.
- The Kerning (space between the letters if you didn't know) is inconsistent, some letters are close to each other and some have a good amount of distant.. for example.. look at how close the L is to the A and then how far away the N is from the D..
No need to be condescending. I know what kerning is. I also know that kerning isn't meant to be equal spacing between all letters, but rather to balance the negative spacing, which is why an open letter like a capital "L" will be moved much closer to the letter to its right, especially and "A" which itself has negative space on its left side, whereas an "N" next to a "D" has almost no negative space, so the kerning is loosened.
- The connection of the N and Y is just awkward, especially with the sticking in the photo you provided. They would be better served to separate them and not have them connect.
This seems a reiteration of your first point. I still disagree.
- I still don't understand the puck's placement.. or why it's even necessary in the first place.
This, to me, also seems like a decision based on balancing the negative space - combined with iconography associated with the sport.
I know the logo holds a lot of weight with it's history, but that doesn't mean that they can't clean up the basic design elements of the logo. Not a complete overhaul, but to fix those things would benefit it a lot.
