Then we have to try to figure out why we don't like the jerseys we don't like and why we like the jerseys we do like. There may be a pattern somewhere, but it's probably far too complex to be able to logically explain. Hence the erratic inconsistency of the "criteria" for liking a jersey.

The Sabres' home and away jerseys are fantastic. The third jersey is an atrocity and deserves to be given the ol' Yeller treatment. It's perfectly fair for that one jersey out of three to drag the Sabres' jerseys as a whole down to the bottom of the list.

Well, if one's analysis leads to erratic inconsistencies, then perhaps don't use those conclusions as a basis for an article.

Buffalo's third jersey is horrendous, and I swear that they've only worn it for games that I've attended this year.

However, there is no way that they should put us in the basement. Hell, the Buffalo third (which we are only punished with a limited number of times) is about as awful as the Preds regular jersey.

Canucks and Devils way too low. what the heck do you want from a team called the devils besides red and black? if they had the green still they'd probably say "why do the Devils have green in their color scheme? they look like skating Christmas trees. simplify things to just Red and Black and they'd have a classic look."

... The Avs 3rd is their best current jersey.
... The Sens 3rd is their best current jersey.
... The Preds should be rated higher because of their unique colour.
... The Panthers should be rated higher because of their unique colour combination.

Also, do you guys just generally dislike 3rd jerseys??

I agree. I'm sorry if I came across as defending the article. I also dislike articles like this. I was just trying to explain why they are the way they are.

you're missing the point. He's not ragging on the Devils because they are old, he clearly says that after all these years the jersey is starting to bore him when once he liked it. Big difference there.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. But I love the fact the Devils went with a more classic look versus a modern look. Only thing that could be improved is maybe the fonts and colors of the numbers and letters. They could add a little red piping in the home jersey numbers / letters and a little white piping in the road jersey numbers / letters.

Vancouver has a great logo, I just think they should get rid of the unnecessary "Vancouver" lettering above. Otherwise, I think their uniforms are fantastic.

I'm curious to see where the Caps rank. I really liked the redesign when it first debuted back in 2007, but now I find myself wishing they would just embrace the 2011 WC look at go back to the bright red and white for home and away. The alternate they wear is their best jersey IMO.

Hey, a list I agree with!

I'm very passionate about color. And I despise yellow. So the Sabres and Preds should definitely be last. And I know everyone loves them, because they feel they have to. But to me, the Blackhawks have disgustingly ugly uniforms. Along with the Oilers, Islanders and Flames. Most others, I quite like, or simply don't mind.

Definitely the most opinionated topic possible, though.

The formula was simple: Twelve voters rated every jersey on a scale of 1-10, and I averaged each team's overall score. When there was a tie, I omitted the alternates and averaged only the home and road jerseys.

As I said, thoroughly unscientific.

I didn't see any particular bias against third jerseys. In fact, an alternate ranked as the No. 6 jersey in the league.
