5 on 3 numbers. Obviously extremely small samples and a lot of the teams have only had a minute or two (including nashville with 0)

To put that in perspective, if we were to spend the entire game on the power play, we would probably get only 3 goals.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

That is beyond hilarious. If I'm Torts, I send out a normal line and let them do whatever they want. Send out Hagelin-Stepan-Nash and let them play a regular shift.

Teams know that we cough the puck up easily, stay stationary, and don't move the puck quick enough. As a result, the oppositions PK plays relentless on us causing an easy turnover. Then, after they clear it, they know we suck at entering the zone so they stack three guys on the blue line so we can't penetrate the zone. If we try and dump it, we do our stupid board play down low until we either lose the puck for another clear, or retrieve it to the point to which the PK unit knows again, to just attack the puck carrier because we are TOO SLOW with our moves and stickhandling and can't do anything on the PP.

I have to think that Torts has about a 2-3 week window to get things corrected before a change is brought about behind the bench with one or both he and Sully fired .

My uncle, a long time Devils fan was talking to me about the Devils PP and how much crisper and composed it looks since they brought in a PP specialist coach. (forgot his name)

For the life of me, I cant understand why the Rangers (and I blame this on Sather, not Sully or Torts) haven't brought someone in to work with the coaching staff and players in practice. This guy doesn't have to be on the bench, he just needs to worry about the PP.

Quite frankly I think its a bit selfish and hard headed of Torts to only want one assistant anyway - but that's how he runs his bench.
Considering the lack of practice time theyll have this season, it might be too late for this but I think you have to try anything at this point to shake it up. The forwards on the PP are way too talented to suck this much.

MANY teams do just that. The Habs have done it for years. I think the coaches have to open to it, not sure Torts is.

If im a General Manager I tell Torts its happening and that's it. Its obvious a change needs to be made, but I dont think Sullivan needs to be canned for the PP when hes worked wonders with the defenseman on this team.

Let them focus on the parts they need to focus on, give Torts the final call on things but get someone in here to work something else up for the PP, enough is enough. Its embarrassing. Especially at home when your own fans get on you more than any other franchise in the league.

They have a goalie coach and hes done a fantastic job. Whats the big deal.

So what I am reading is the Rangers should be able to get (2) shots per PP? I'll take it!

But then you have to ask another question: is it a registered SOG?

With this team being stiff, making slow passes, being indecisive with their shots, slow, allowing the other team to get in a better position to block shots..no.

I like the movement I've seen from Nash on the powerplay lately. Problem is he's the only one, and when he's open they take too long getting him the puck and his window of opportunit closes. They also need to stop trying to force passes through the slot and across the crease. I know they had quite a bit of success with the back door play last year but it's pretty easy to defend against once teams know it's all you've got.

Richards off the Powerplay

everything went smoother that few minutes he was out...bodies moving, puck moving...pucks going in

Richards holds the team back in this sense

Such a small sample size. Do you really believe if Richards was out there and not Del Zotto he wouldn't have successfully made those passes?

The playmaker is taking shots and the goal scorer is making passes..

I need an aspirin.

Gaborik, Nash, Steph, Cally, Staal.

Can't believe how stubborn Torts is with the PP considering he breaks up even strength lines with a snap.

Looks like he's feeling less than great. Hope he isn't out. But we should maybe experiment. We need our scoring guys to shoot more.

I mean it was a 5 on 3 for the first goal. But yeah, I really hope he gets taken off of it soon though. His shot selection is really poor. Can't Torts try anyone else on the point?

Which was ****ing impressive because we blow on a 5-on-3. I mean, how long did it take for us to score the goal: 2-3 seconds?

The hate will come in but i agree. We scored two PP goals in under a minute without him. One was 5-3 but the other was 5-4. We then had the 5-4 for 4 minutes with richards and nothing. I am not a hater of richards at all but he is currently in a slump (he doesnt even deny that) and until he starts to climb out of it he should be kept away from the PP.

do you suggest we keep running richards out there?

hasnt he had enough of a sample size to show that he's no good at the point?

Also didn't they trot Richards back out there for the final two minutes of the major penalty? Which at that point totally collapsed again?

I disagree with you guys, even though we scored twice on the PP with Richards out, this doesn't mean our PP is suddenly awesome without Brad. Very small sample size.

PP #1 - Gaborik Callahan Nash with Richards and MDZ on the point
PP #2 - Hagelin Stepan Nash with Staal and Girardi on the point

The lockout is the reason for Richard's poor play so far this year, but it's wayy too early to write this guy off on the PP. Give him time, and Nash, and we'll be fine on the PP. Ultimately, it's not about whether or not having Richards out there, it's all about Nash. If he's on the ice on the PP, our chances of scoring are obviously much greater.
