The 2013 ATD Sign Up Thread (MOD: Draft order in post 415)

In all seriousness, I think we need to find a way to get arrbez involved in running a team. I don't like it when returning GMs who want to return are shut out, let alone the defending champ.

It was just a joke anyway.

Though I would prefer if you were involved in the draft if only for what you bring to the community.

1. In all seriousness, I think we need to find a way to get arrbez involved in running a team. 2. I don't like it when returning GMs who want to return are shut out, let alone the defending champ.
1. arrbez said he can only consult, because there will be times when he's not on for a week or two. 2. That's why I kept my Co-GM spot open for late comer vets, even though I had to pass on teaming up with many GMs I like who teamed up with others. 3. If you compare last year's roster to this years, many vets obviously needed a year off after what happened last year.

If someone still wants/needs a co-GM, as a rookie, I'd love to help. I'm on all the time and I don't mind (slash actually enjoy) newspaper research and that stuff.

WAITING LIST:

BubbaBoot
bluesfan94
Murphy (wanted his own team but doesn't mind co-GMing)

IDEA: Go to 36 teams instead of 32.

It's not too late and it's doable. Then either run four divisions of eight teams each like usual, or....... have one conference of five teams per division and another conference of four teams per division (like the present day NHL's uneven divisions). There's no fairness issue if we choose which conference our team goes into (one of the 5-teams-per division conference OR the 4-teams-per-division conference).

GodMadeMe can have his St. Catharines Teepees back.

Murphy can have his Edmonton Mercurys (he wanted a team by himself but was willing to co-GM if needed since he came "late", after we had 32 teams, but rather early in January, and we had no preset deadline to join date);

arrbez can co-GM a team with bluesfan94;

BubbaBoot can have a team by himself or co-gming with hedberg or myself or maybe sturm or 70slord could co-gm with someone;

Hedberg and I don't need to team up, we could each run a team.

I'm against 36 teams.

I feel like this is too much , the 40 teams draft was slow , painfully slow and last year went a whole lot more smoothly despite a bunch of none-sensical trades happening.

I feel like an ******* for saying this , but it is what it is.

I'm against 36 teams.We're past that at this point.
WAITING LIST:

BubbaBoot (interested newbie)
bluesfan94 (interested newbie)
arrbez (would make a great veteran co-GM)

IDEA: Run with 32 teams this way: Perhaps arrbez and one of the two waiting newbies could co-GM with one of the two newbie solo-run entries:

31. DemonsOnIce96 - Renfrew Creamery Kings
32. Darth Yoda - Viking Maniacs

There's no injustice in requiring newbies to co-GM when space is limited and veteran ATDers want to join (and no deadline to join has been set, no ball rolling on the draft, and it's still bloody early in January!).

I thought newbies were actually required to co-gm with a vet since ATD2012 but I forgot there were already rookies in this draft that registered without co-gm.

I'm not going to fight this that strongly because I don't want to be ''that guy'' who takes away a chance for anybody to participate , but I do prefer a 32 draft than a 36 draft.

After the mess that happened in ATD2011, it was an absolute requirement of ATD2012 for a rookie to team up with a vet, and that's what we made Hobnobs do.

We didn't really talk about it this time.

True , I just thought it was still in place in theory.

I won't fight this too much , I was a rookie in 2011 and I was the last one to register out of 40 and I build a team solo.I'm not in a good position to whine at all.

I can see the dilemma.

On one hand, the defending champ should absolutely be in the ATD to...well...defend his title :D

On the other hand, I don't necessarily agree with "forcing" new GMs to team with veterans in their first runs. I understand the logic behind it, but I think newbies should be allowed to be on their if they want to. I went solo in my first ATD here and I did pretty well.

Weren't you in ATDs on the Leafs Chat board before coming here though? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I PMed DemonsOnIce96 and Darth Yoda and let them know that the draft is starting in about a week and is a several month commitment. Told them to either post here or PM me to let me know if they're in. Also mentioned there is a waiting list, so it'll be easy for them to find a co-GM if they want.
