That's pretty much what I want now if we get Stone. Have that line play sheltered minutes and they'll eat their competition alive. Though this dream line up of mine includes separating Scheif and Wheeler so I know it'll never happen.

1st = 25ish pick which probably has a 25% chance of panning out.

Who is the top prospect?

Stone is one of the top forwards in the NHL full stop. Rentals are usually overrated IMO but Stone is a game changer. If we are renting why not get the best when the delta between Stone and Hayes may not be material. At some point we need to take our shot at the cup.

I would rather have 3-4 shots down instead of one shot. Also the price would be 2 firsts if the Jets made it to the final but again who do you take out of the top 4 Ehlers or Laine?

You have to pay to acquire one of the best players at his position in the league. His value is far better than a late first and a mid tier prospect even if he books it after the season. He makes this team exponentially better and if you think he’s playing third or fourth line, you’re dreaming and vastly overrating the Jets’ players. Simple as that.

Like I said if you trade for Stone who are you demoting?
Ehlers, Laine, Connor or Wheeler ... it doesn't make sense unless you are trading one of them for Stone.

As of right now, Stone is better than all of them so any of the above? Just because you have four good wingers doesn’t mean you don’t try to better your team. It just makes the third line all the stronger.

Why aren’t we still going to get our 3-4 shots? We don’t know what assets we are going to spend but it will most likely be one 1st and an A prospect for the rental. We are not gutting our team we are investing and hedging? It’s not all or nothing it is risking some possible futures for some today.

If we grab Hayes it seems like most people have no problem sending Little to the 3rd line Centre or RW? If it’s ok for little why not a Guy like Connor? We are not banishing Kyle we are placing him on an improved 3rd line where he can hopefully dominate and create mismatches. More talent is not a bad thing.

Great post here, and I totally agree with this. We are "certainly" not gutting our team to give them what they want for Stone --and that's Vesalainen. We don't even know if he'd make the team in the next year ? and if he does, it will be on the 4-th line.

We should be in the game to win it all now --"The Stanley Cup" -- so why not pull the trigger, give the Sens what they want, and we have a good shot at the Cup. Being a little bit to stingy for "the perfect deal", could really cost us.

I say "make the deal" -- now.

I'd drop Laine or Connor to the 4th line if we got Stone. I wouldn't take Ehlers off that 2nd line--he drives the play with his speed as shown in the Vegas game. The Jets are a different team with Ehlers in the lineup--" he is key."

If the Jets acquired Stone -- do posters think we have enough power to knock off Tampa in a 7 game series for the Cup ??

Just make 2a/2b, with the 4 above and Stone plus Perreault we have wingers for good top 9. 3rd center? Maybe Copp, maybe Roslovic, maybe one more trade.
