Thanks Coach,

Loved your intensity...loved the fact you could get the most out of what you were handed for a roster year after year. When the talent was there you made the most of it.

Those in the know understand a message will go stale...I just wish you left on your own accord...you would have been better for it. But, you wanted to win the cup in Buffalo more than anyone and I salute you!

It's never the players fault, or the front office idiots that believe they have the right group or the talent to get it done. You could and did the best with your roster.

I know you will hoist the Cup. It's sad it will not be Buffalo. I'll raise my glass to you, Coach!

Lindy,

I always knew of you and your family growing up, I've been to your house multiple times, eryn is a great party host. We always joked about how your neighbors got rich off a game and you had to get your ass kicked on the ice to make a living. You're a great dude and great coach. It was time for a change though. And you realized that probably sooner then any of us, I know waking up today it's going to hit you hard. Thanks for everything. And remember you want some summer words, "NO GOAL"

Of couse you dare. Even if this was the right decision, he has been our head coach for a looooong time. He should be treated with a lot of respect, and I really hope he gets his chance to enter the center ice so FNC and fans can thank him as he deserve.

Thanks Lindy.

Good luck Sabres from a habs fan. I always liked Ruff, he was one of my favorite coaches, but I guess his time was up. I hope he finds another coaching job and I'd be completely shocked if he didn't.

I enjoyed having Lindy as our coach, at least most of the time. He's a great coach and wont have any trouble finding another job, and I guarantee he turns that team around, whoever it is. His time in Buffalo had come to an end however, after being in the same position for so long, messages get old and stale and he was probably getting bored too. So thanks Lindy for the good times and good luck in your future endeavors.

Ruff's hands were tied by incompetent management ever since the lockout year. I appreciate what he was able to accomplish under those circumstances.

The future
Lindy,

You had the ability to make something from nothing. I wish you could have been the coach to bring Lord Stanley to Buffalo. You deserved to be that coach.

Best of luck to you wherever you go. Any team will be lucky to have you.

Lost in all of this is the VanMassenhoven stares as if to say, "What? I don't even.."

The kids behind them are pretty hilarious too.

This is why it's hard to see Lindy go...even though it was the right thing to do...he always had his player's backs!!!

Thank You Lindy for everything you did in Buffalo...as a player, a coach, and a true Buffalonian!!!

I really, honestly, do wish Lindy all the best in his future career.

I really don't think you can pin the blame on recent results on him seeing the rosters they've had since 2007.

He did a lot for the organization. I'm not even a Sabres fan but even I still get the chills from watching that clip from the Ottawa game.

Long time Sabres fan, and I never post here, but had to come by today and see what was going on.

Best of luck, Lindy. Thanks for the memories. :handclap::handclap:

One of my favorite Lindy memories was when we were playing the Thrashers in Buffalo (I think it was the year before the lockout). Our offense was nowhere to be found and we were down by several goals. I think we had a 5 on 3 powerplay towards the end of the second - and (surprise, surprise it was anemic). So Lindy pulled the goalie and gave us a 6 on 3. I think that seemed to embarrass the team enough that they turned on the offense and we went on to win the game.

As much as the change needed to be made, it is still a sad time and ultimately, he paid for the mixed blame to go around. I wish he could have won the cup with the team and as others have mentioned, best of luck to him in the future.

I still remember that Ottawa game (I actually had tickets to it that I gave away) and as abysmal as the Sabres' performance was Tuesday, it is still shocking to think that I was at Ruff's last game as Buffalo's head coach.

And wow, does 16 years fly by.

Thank you, Lindy for everything you've done for this organization and community and I hope ypu still has a presence in Western New York for a long time.

"DON'T GO AFTER OUR *****ING CAPTAIN" just brought a bit of tears to my eyes. damn

Loved that. Still one of my favorite Lindy moments.

Who on this team would have Lindy stood on a bench for and yelled about like that these days, though? Pominville? Please. That clip reminds me of three good things, 1) Lindy when he had fire, 2) this team when it had a real leader, and 3) Rob Ray when he wasn't the color guy.

Better days. Thanks for the good times this team had, Lindy.
