Dare I?

There was a period of time where he was viewed as one of the better coaches in the league. His resume is pretty decent, and you can't say he was a bad guy off of the ice. He was a FIXTURE of the City, the team, and really a representation of our sports City for decades.

Wishing him luck in his future endeavors.

Unlike when Quinn left, I have a lot of gratitude and respect for what Ruff has done for the franchise. I wish him the best of success wherever he ends up (well, maybe not a Cup, but anything else).

I love Lindy.

He was a great coach for this team for many years.

HOWEVER,

this needed to be done. He'll get a new job somewhere else very quickly.

I have no animosity toward Ruff. He could have easily had a cup under his belt in 05-06 if it weren't for the injury bug hitting when it did. All good things come to an end.

Lindy, you brought us some really great times. I honestly hope you and your family find success wherever your next coaching job brings you. Best of luck.

Glad to be able to root for him again, in terms of hoping he latches on somewhere else. I HATED that it was his fault, but it was so evident that he lost the team.

It's definitely more fun to complain about Ruff than to contemplate the team without him.

In a way, sorry to see ya go, Lindy.

I don't personally hate the guy, he just needed to go.

I will always have fond memories of his tantrums, especially the Ottawa brawl game, and his war with Hitchcock.

He was a step ahead of the curve post-lockout, he was a great coach back then.

Sad to see him go; I really wanted him to win a cup here.

It's been a tremendous(ly long) run. He did some very good things here and yes, he deserves thanks for that.

Part of the community, had some success, but those years are behind him. Not a reason to keep him. Good riddance and I would be he'll get a job elsewhere. It was time, and I just can't believe it's true.

Quinn was bad for the Sabres, but good for WNY given all the big events he brought in (WJC, Winter Classic, Pond hockey Tourney, etc.).

Sucks that Ruff couldn't find success here, but "run 'em" remains one of my favorite moments as a Sabres fan.

THanks Lindy, no doubt we'll see a statue of him sooner or later once he quits working in hockey.

Ruff is an excellent coach, I'm sad we didn't win it all with him at the helm. It was just time for change, I think it'll end up being good for both the team and Ruff.
