Yep. It was a terrible piece of announcing on an absolute beating administered by a Sabre. His call on Grigs' first goal the other night was poor, too.

Oh well - at least RJ is still leagues better than Sylvester.

Our broadcasting team is seriously bush league. I was listening to the NESN broadcast because it was the only decent feed I could get and he wasn't half bad. He's a bit hyperbolic when it comes to the Bruins but him and his color guy are just on a different level, like a D3 college hockey broadcast vs an NHL one.

Razor and RJ just don't really know what the hell is going on. Everytime Vanek scored or made a big play they'd briefly allude to you "best players coming up big" but nowhere did I hear how many points he had or how great the plays were. I actually heard the hat trick goal on the radio and had no idea how amazing it was because the call was just bad. I don't think they even have a statistician. They almost never repeat any stats on the air and I don't think they've had a relevant bit of information in any broadcast this season.

And the only thing Razor can say is "X made a nice play". Nice play, everything is a "nice play" with Rob.

Agreed. Edwards is obnoxious at times, but he's also a good play-by-play man. I enjoy listening to him when he's not breaking out the Bruins homerism.

On the Sabres side, RJ is a shell of his old self and Ray is horrible. Duff is the saving grace in the studio. Really, Duff is the best color man the Sabres have had in recent years. I think he only did one game in the booth last season as a color announcer, but he was outstanding.

Agreed as well. Ended up watching the NESN broadcast out of necessity (my GCL device only lets me watch home feeds), and was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Thornton vs. Scott, I always feel badly for any player who sustains head injuries. That's just not something to get excited about, I feel. That said, of course it felt good to watch Scott take care of business. It's odd, I find myself mixed on all fights these days.

It's pretty awful. He actually thinks Thornton just loses an edge and falls down.

So did many folks watching the game, myself included. It wasn't until I saw Thornton stumbling to the box that I realized he got tagged.

I don't care one way or another if you like RJ or not. But getting this wound up over that is pretty sad. It's like you want to mad at him and look for anything to bash him for.

That's all I'll say on that since I don't want to take the thread further off topic.

Really like what I've seen from that man. Nice to see him dominate the notorious Boston goon. Also awesome to see him getting some shots on goal. He isn't flashy, he just gets the puck to the net. I'm predicting he gets rewarded with a goal at some point this year, and it'll win us a pivotal game.

I love John Scott. He's wearing Rays old 32, and Kaleta is wearing Barnabys old 36 :)

Anyway, I hope they re-sign him for a few more years. We need him and wants him.

...

Bruins fan here.

I know I'm not entirely welcome and I admit I have to gloss over and ignore much of what has been posted.

But I feel as though kudos are in order. Because you guys started a ****storm over on our boards. You played some legit tough and beat my team in every facet of the game. It hasn't often happened to us in the past couple of seasons - and it is a dramatic change from what we saw out of the Sabres last year.

So, uh... I hate your team (don't get me wrong). I hope it burns.
But I respect what you did last night. The Buffalo Sabres are now a team that has earned the right to be concerned about playing against. And as pissy as we all are over there, we all know what it was like when our team turned that corner a few years ago.

Kudos and congrats. And I can't wait for next game.

Nice post Bruins fan. By the way, I hate your team more than any other team in all of sports. Ill never forgive your team for the Pacioretti near death and for the brawl against Montreal taking on non fighters like Lucic taking on Tom Pyatt. And of course I hate your team for what you did to Miller last year. Your team plays dirty and usually picks on weaker players, thus are bullies and thugs. I for one am not sad about Thortons injury. I hope Lucic takes on Scott.

I could tell Scott was making contact, but it didn't look like he was doing much damage...at all. Seeing Thornton stumbling around afterwards shocked the hell out of me.

Scott's gotta have some pretty incredible power behind those mitts, good god

Apparently Scott held up a single finger (non-middle) to the Bruins bench after the bought with Thornton while they were still in the box, perhaps indicating he was going to have more than one tilt last night. Seems he found no other takers. When he's got a guy's arm tied up and can let fly with those long arms of his, damn.

I hope Thornton is ok/makes a speedy recovery.

that's awesome...just awesome.....

I'm really hoping Scott get's a chance to say hi to Milan at some point this year :handclap:

The Boston media seems to be creating a frenzy over this. They're comparing the knockout to the Miller incident and calling out the Bruins for not responding. Luckily, Julien's not an idiot. I like what he said after. Basically, it was two tough guys doing their job and the other guy won. There's no reason for "revenge."

The Feb. 10 game could be fun (particularly if McCormick's back) but I doubt the Bruins come out to prove a point. Chara or Lucic don't need to risk injury fighting Scott. They're too important. And plus, Lucic might have some unfinished business with Orr tomorrow he needs to get through first.

Anyway, I'm still glad Scott sent such a big message, but both teams need to move onto the next games. No sense focusing on each other. This is hockey. **** happens.

I can semi-understand Bruins fans getting cranky, but the players have nothing to get bent over, aside from getting lit for 7. There was no other real fiesty or cheap shots in that game, no running Rask, even Stafford's elbow was exaggerated by Hamilton. I expect them to play more physically next game, just as a point, but not much else (unless the media play it up bad enough that the players just try to shut them up by gooning).

The best thing about this is imagine how much they could be whining in the future when Buffalo has:

Scott, Ott, Kaleta, Tropp, Girgensons and Foligno all in semi-regular spots

Fixed for accuracy.

It was nice to see Boston not taking advantage of the little Sabres likes years past. In the past, every Bruin thug would have gooned it up at the end of last nights game. But with Big John watching out, they were all civilized obedient cats. I guess gorilla Lucic didn't want to avenge Thortons beatdown either. Wonder why?
By the way, big John is worth every penny and worthy of a spot on the roster. No 4th line player will contribute more than him. He contributes even when not on the ice.

I agree. He is everything i had hoped for and more. Hopefully the rest of the team can do their part. Still would like them to add a center. Hopefully they will make a trade.

Draw. Looks like Parros got the edge in the end but if you watch the whole thing closely it's an obvious draw.

I like him, great to see the difference against Boston.

But them because we've built ourselves for that a team like Montreal run rings around us...

Parros got him with a straight left at the very end that buckled big John. Gotta give Parros credit for that. A true heavyweight bout.
