And in a related note, my son's favorite Sabre at the moment is #32, to the point of putting #32 on his Pinewood Derby car in his honor. He watched the fight hooting "That's my guy! Get him!". I may have created a chip off the ol' Chain. :biglaugh:

(He started liking him after the open scrimmage when he was wondering who the giant was on the ice.)

I hope when the day comes, my kid is HALF as cool as that. :yo: If so, I'll know I'm doing it right!

Paul Hamilton noted that John Scott was patrolling the red line before the game in pre-game warmups...just keeping an eye on things and measuring up the Bruins. He was not even participating in the shoot around. I love that. He's just a guy that knows his role and relishes it. He was even chatting it up with Thornton in warm ups, probably staging their fight, which Thornton I'm sure regrets today.

He's out 7-10 days with a concussion.

Bruins were terrible last night and deserved this (hard pill to swallow). Hopefully this wakes them up and serves as a learning tool.

Vanek always kills us. Guy is amazing.

From a Team USA standpoint it's nice to see Miller have a good game. We need him in Sochi.

Thornton probably doesn't remember that conversation well enough to regret it at this point....hopefully he gets healthy soon though.

No, sad is concussing a goalie trying to clear a puck. A heavyweight getting knocked out and having his jaw rearranged is just business.

Exactly.

No sympathy for Thornton here.

Gotta respect him for trying to throw down against a monster. But at the end of the day, I still love the outcome.

That sucks about thorntons concussion (are you reading this Bruins fans?) I don't wish that level of injury on any player (are you reading this Bruins fans?) I did like the fact that he was knocked out of the game. Nice job BJS :handclap:

Apparently Scott held up a single finger (non-middle) to the Bruins bench after the bought with Thornton while they were still in the box, perhaps indicating he was going to have more than one tilt last night.

He did it right on the ice, watch his right hand after Thornton goes down and the ref comes over.

Rumor has is Thornton has a concussion and possibly worse... jaw/orbital bone issue.

Too bad so sad.

All i though when i watched him taking those shots to the side of his head is it cant be good for his orbital bone.

I love fights but im not a big fan of dressing goons who cant play like Scott but i gotta say congrats to Buffalo for giving back what theyve taken in the past.

I was at the Isles-Devils game last night so I missed the MSG broadcast. Was RJ working the game last night, and if so can someone post a transcript of his call of the fight (would ask for audio, but I'm not sure asking for that on this board is kosher)?

It's pretty awful. He actually thinks Thornton just loses an edge and falls down.

Yep. It was a terrible piece of announcing on an absolute beating administered by a Sabre. His call on Grigs' first goal the other night was poor, too.

Oh well - at least RJ is still leagues better than Sylvester.
