Chytil did get better and had a good playoff overall but he has not convinced me he is a number 2 nor with a team like this that is ready to compete for the cup with a few tweaks, no way I go into next season with him as the 2 center. I just don't see him having the physical traits to be in that role. He seemed to be flopping all over the ice last night.
He's still a young guy, so he's gaining strength. He just has to turn the corner and be productive in the regular season. He has all the tools and he's not a small guy.
It should be pretty clear by now that not all young players come into the league and set it on fire. Chytil has all the tools to become a good 2C. Patience is required. It may never happen, but you can't just label a young kid a 3C and that's that.
FWIW, he was one of the best forwards last night. He was in on the forecheck and battling all over the ice.
Management will still be looking to acquire another center, but why pay a guy like Strome or Trocheck $6+ when they are, maybe, marginally better than the guy you already have at a good price?

Nemeth is leaving?
Nemeth was just benched in the playoffs. They tried to play strome with a dibilitating injury in elimination game. The org commit to one player is different than the other. Nemeth prob won't be here next year anyways but strome going away removes a toy from Turk and panarin. Goodbye "stroke"

I love how Breadman gets such a pass here. He was the worst player of all the top forwards. He has shown he is not a playoff player. Now we are stuck with him and his terrible contract to see him put up a bunch of assists in the regular season and disappear in the playoffs.
He deserves criticism but let’s be fair.
6g and 10 a in 20 games is good production.
He scored the game 7 Winning OT goal vs Shittsburgh.
He is a PP specialist. And excellent at it.
He needs to dump the puck instead of turning it over at the blue line. Hopefully he adapts if not you try and move him.

He had a good few years here.

The Rangers insistence on tying him to Panarin hurt both guys.

Strome is a useful player and will fit somewhere.

The only reasons I don't want him back are 1) the stupid cap and 2) the Rangers need their toy taken away on this one. In a vacuum I have no problem with him being on the roster.

A team will not win the Stanley Cup with Ryan Strome playing a top 6 role, and he’s obviously not suited to the bottom six. Moving on from him has nothing to do with the cap. I hope.

I hated Ryan Strome but then he began to grow on me and then I soured on him again this year. But regardless, he was a very productive player for the team and the trade to acquire him was a great one. Appreciate his contributions to the team but also time to move on.

Productive player, and a good locker room presence, but never has a player driven me more crazy than Ryan Strome. The ridiculous amount of empty nets missed (and I mean ridiculous), the awful offensive zone penalties and other poorly timed brainless decisions he makes lead me to not miss him for one second.

Best of luck to you, Ryan. Thanks for the effort and hope someone pays you well.
