He's still a young guy, so he's gaining strength. He just has to turn the corner and be productive in the regular season. He has all the tools and he's not a small guy.Chytil did get better and had a good playoff overall but he has not convinced me he is a number 2 nor with a team like this that is ready to compete for the cup with a few tweaks, no way I go into next season with him as the 2 center. I just don't see him having the physical traits to be in that role. He seemed to be flopping all over the ice last night.
It should be pretty clear by now that not all young players come into the league and set it on fire. Chytil has all the tools to become a good 2C. Patience is required. It may never happen, but you can't just label a young kid a 3C and that's that.
FWIW, he was one of the best forwards last night. He was in on the forecheck and battling all over the ice.
Management will still be looking to acquire another center, but why pay a guy like Strome or Trocheck $6+ when they are, maybe, marginally better than the guy you already have at a good price?
