Nobody cared more than Brad Marchand about winning games. His competitive drive is unmatched across the league. I enjoyed watching him rise from the fourth line to the first and finally bringing us a Stanley Cup.

Hope he gets another one.

Can't believe this is over because of the reported one contract year after Sweeney's horrendous 3 summer signings. Now we can watch Sweeney try his hand at the draft again. Going to be tough to be a Bruins fan for a long time. We basically just have Pasta as a talent now. McAvoy is a tier 2 defenseman at best. Sway got paid and now he plays like a backup. ELindholm allegedly played games this year but I didn't see him. Zadorov doesn't think the game well and makes gaffes all the time. What do we have?

Just Pasta.

It was not about money. It was about contract length. He will be back in July imo.

The reports are saying it was about both. Term first, yes, two years or three, but two was allegedly at least up for consideration if more money was given. Then three was put on the table by management in February, but the money was too low.

Anyway, doesn't change my main point. The Bruins/Brad story has already been told in as much fullness, with all the highs and lows, as anyone could reasonably wish for. If we do get more, it will purely be a bonus.

I’ll stick to the local reports.

friedman's latest report about the face-to-face meeting where the bruins refused to bend was a bit of a nut punch too

That's what a good manager does.

Ultimately, a manager must do what they believe is best for the team and the organization.

It's as simple, and as painful, as that.

I commend Don Sweeney while wishing Brad all the very best, including a second Cup, which we all know he deserves.

As a non-Bruins fans that lives in a Vancouver-dominant fanbase and I gotta say I've heard so much about this "rat" for a long, long time. Still do lol. Have noticed his continual maturity and competitiveness on the ice. Seems like a killer dude off the ice. Virtually elite all situations two-way winger? Give me that for my team's playoff run, and for a long time

Cats are my #2 team, so they better treat this rat damn well. Barring injury, I can see him doing one final Bruins lap. Sooner? Later? Ever?

Either way good luck wearing the Red for once, go get another one Marchy

Amazing or par for the course?

They’ve been lying and pushing Marchand out the door all season long. This was the plan from puck drop.
Yep. Those of us who thought he was not a good captain were obviously correct. Listen to the EF thing w MacLean. He went directly to the brass and tried for compromise and they still couldn’t wait to boot him. Guess they found their latest fall guy maybe?

Yeah, I wish they just had the balls to say they felt it was time to move on, rebuild a new leadership core and wish Brad the best instead of saying he's gone because of contract stuff when they offered him something they knew he would never take.
