Colorado seems to have done well with the trade deadline, but somehow I just don't trust their team defence. They're just not good at defending. They may be able to score their way to a first-round win in the playoffs, but unless something major changes with the team's system, I don't see them going far this year.

Looks like, after MacKinnon, the usual number of players (Drai, Kuch, McD, Connor; maybe Pastrnak, Marner) will hit 100 or more points this season, but does anyone else find the goals-leaders kind of 'meh'?

Draisaitl should get 55 or more unless he goes into a slump, but after him nobody currently has more than 35 goals, with 18-19 games remaining. Somebody might get hot and do it, but if it stays at current pace, only Drai hits 50. Last year, four players did so, and five the year before that.

Yeah, I agree with that last paragraph.

Nylander is really good and all, but it feels like he's been kind of inconsistent this year (at least compared to last year) and I keep seeing that he's in the top two or three in goals.

Too bad about the Ovechkin injury. I think if healthy all season, he would have stood a good shot at 50 goals, which would have been amazing considering his age and the lack of big goal scoring seasons from players this year.

He has that insane explosiveness, I said it before that the NHL has never seen a true elite athlete. Not talking skill, athlete, guys with that explosive raw power like a Lebron James, Tyreek Hill, prime Derrick Rose.

Mackinnon has that. There's lots of great athletes in the league I don't want people to get me wrong, but he truly has that elite level speed/explosiveness you see in the NBA/NFL, it's insane to see on ice. Guy is so good.

Wouldn’t Avs fans know? It’s all they talked about when Kucherov beat him in the race last season.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Avs love copying kuch… Stanley cup wins, shit talking t-shirts, and hopefully empty nets point-fueled art ross trophies.

Would these help?

not bad, but not top player in the world when this guy is in the league.

19 point gap and we still get oil fans sprinting in here to embarrass themselves
dismissing him is more embarrassing.

Im not even sure MacK has more ES point than McDavid.

I certainly remember fans embarrassing themselves by pointing out McDavid and Drai could only score on the PP and were PP merchants. Perhaps thats why MacK is getting the gears from others fans.

McDavid is closer to Makar than MacGinnon for even strength points.

But if you take out empty nets and only count even strength scoring against a goaler then McDavid is ahead by 21 points.

Also just to note, per Statmuse, MacK has the most ES points in the league with 67 empty netters:

Pts/game vs goalies this season

Draisailt 1.44
McDavid 1.42
Kucherov 1.41
MacKinnon 1.35

Having 13 empty net points and 4hrs of powerplay icetime does not make you the best player in the world :thumbu:
You know he's leading the league in 5 on 5 points right?
