One thing I always like doing when we get near the middle of the season is comparing how the records for all the teams so far this season compares to their records from last season. (using points percentage)

I've put them into this chart. The first column is points percentage from last season, second is points percentage so far from this season, third one is the increase (or decrease) from year to year.

Awesome
I was curious to see what teams points percentage was looking like compared to this time last year and found this site.

This was about the point most teams had played 30-31 games.

Sens are trending up big time, they finally have a legitimate elite goaltender, Sens have given up an average of 1,28 goals per game the last 7 games, They are finding ways to win games instead of losing them.

Dishonorable mention to Nashville. What happened there?

Seems like too much key personnel turnover destroyed the team chemistry, and perhaps the new pieces aren't actually as good as those they let go.

Otherwise stated, Trotz gambled his paycheck but crapped out and will be spending the rest of the season eating nothing but cold cereal.

Perhaps the better question is why the Preds thought that Trotz would make a good GM. It's somewhat like taking a champion NASCAR driver and deciding that he could be a successful 747 pilot too.

Watch out for the Blackhawks. I mean by default they put up 52 points last year. With the worst record in the league, they're on pace for 62 and they just replaced their coach. There is clearly signs of life and they have more kids coming up later into the season.

People obviously tend to look at the teams at the top and the bottom but what about the Kraken going absolutely nowhere? Very concerning when you consider they were able to build their future outlook from the scratch. But then again I think we could all see this happening right from the expansion draft.

Washington is this season's biggest surprise. Honorable mention to Minnesota and Winnipeg. Dishonorable mention to Nashville. What happened there?
Jets always do well in regular season it’s just playoffs that gives us the chills.
