Teams that will rise, teams that will fall and teams that will self destruct this playoffs

Reminded me of this:

not that way woll.PNG

It's so hard to predict for the Habs. They could just as well be a dark horse or fizzle out early.
They've been one of the better teams in the second half and they find ways to win. They are also playing with house money.
But they are young and they've been playing playoff hockey for a while now. They are bound to tire out.
The X factor is Demidov. Will he start playing like the superstar Habs fans hope he'll become or will he have growing pains adjusting to his new environment?

Whichever team makes it out of the Central will be a wrecking ball moving forward.

It’s dumb that the 2nd Place team has to play the 4th place team.

Valid. I think there are differences though. The last time the Jets won a 2nd round playoff game was 2017-2018. The core of that team is gone. Also the manner in which they lose. For example, Leafs lost a hard fought injury filled series in game 7 OT last year. Jets were an easy out in 5 games B2B years.

Also for me, the main question is Hellebuyck because he has been a Vezina level goalie to make the Jets look this good but has also been the guy who has let them down the most when it counts. I think compared to the Leafs two goalies, they have shown in their careers they elevate in the post season.

No one really knows anything with this stuff. Just my opinions.
When was the last time the Leafs won 2 games in the second round?

I mean. I know I'm privileged in that sense. But I've also been a fan of another team that won a cup (Anaheim). After winning every loss and every mistake was amplified by Ducks fans, including me, because we were all hungry for another cup. After years of chasing that dragon I was exhausted. Vegas, as my hometown team, winning a cup was a huge thrill and attending the parade in full view of the on stage celebration was one of the best experiences of my life. But I'm not emotionally capable of hungering for multiple cups anymore. There's 32 teams in the league with more on the way. Just one is outstanding. My dad on the other hand texts me after every VGK loss like it's a Greek tragedy.

Oh don't worry, we're just jealous.

I too cheered for a team that won the Cup (back in 1994) but it's not the same as when the hometown team does it.

True. I'm still a VGK fan but I became a fan for different reasons than my continuing Ducks fandom. From the beginning I just wanted to hockey to thrive in my city because for many years it felt like I was alone in being a huge fan of the sport. Seeing the VGK logo all around town, and hearing coworkers talking about games the day after makes me happy. But what really pulled me in as a fan vs. a casual supporter was the impact they had after the Mandalay Bay shooting. People don't really appreciate just how much that inaugural team pulled the Vegas community together and healed everyone's spirits. I couldn't help but take them on as a second team. But yeah, since they won the cup I'm far more emotionally invested in Anaheim's continuing rebuild than I am in seeing Vegas' success continue. Even if Anaheim games have a higher tendency to ruin my mood.

‘67?
Imo they are a much better suited playoff team than in recent years. I have them at least in the Conference Final and even making it to the Cup Final. Not too sure who is better than the Leafs in the East?

Dallas has a blue line of Ceci, Lyubushkin and Dumba and Heiskanen is injured, and every team since basically Feb 1st has made us look like a lotto team, so pretty safe to assume we'll fall.
Dallas still has great forwards and if Oettinger plays well he will cover up a lot of the defensive issues.

How the f*** is that possible, considering they're getting in the playoffs as the 16th best team?

I wanted to label every team, and I don't think they'll rise (win a round).
Eh... fair enough. I mean I don't think it's the point of the thread, but it'S not like it was super explicity stated either.
