Tuch is such an effective player when he is moving his feet. i like him to make the next US Olympic team over one-dimensional guys like Gaudreau, Caufield, Zegras etc

Eichel, Hughes, Matthews, both Tkachuks, Thompson, Connor will be the core and they would be better surrounded by versatile, fast players like Beniers, Tuch, Larkin, etc. But largely a matter of preference I suppose

Did you see the team he was playing for?

Dude set a modern day record for +/- last year and you called him one dimensional and grouped him into players like Cole Caufield lol.

As we all thought, this became the first team to win all the preliminary round games.

There were a lot of good elements today, but I have to say that especially Sweden got many soft penalties.

Unbelievable to think that Sweden's two goals in the last period were the first last period goals scored against us in this tournament. All in all, almost three games without a goal conceded on even strength.

The last period was so well under control that you have to feel bit annoyed by that choke job in the end. Good answer in the overtime tho.

DeSmith has been very good in this tournament but he should have been able to stop that last goal. Can't let those going forward.

I really like Patrick Brown. Not a skilled guy but a very good PK guy and also very good at winning the puck back.

Hate to see them give up a lead like that but they got the win and secured the more favable matchup next round. Team has better than advertised in my opinion. It makes me wonder if Chris Clark and co had the option t go with more plumbers but decided to prioritize speed, skill, etc. over size. For this tournament it's proven to be the right move.

The reffing in that game was pretty terrible. Both teams at times had the right to be upset.

That aside, the US was the better team in the game and they carried most of the 5-on-5 play. The epic collapse at the end was not ideal and is the type of lapse that can cause your tournament to be over. Adversity wise it's great that it didn't seem to phase them and they were able to end up winning, but hopefully, a lesson was learned in the process. Yes, it was a lucky goal for Carlsson on a bar-down tip by Tuch into his own net that he couldn't replicate again if you gave him 100 tries. But also don't play with fire when you don't need to and you're easily controlling the game.

The preliminary round went as well as you could have hoped and they closed it off to get the most advantageous QF crossover opponent possible. This team is capable of beating anyone here and being a tough out even if they don't but we don't often optimize our chances here by taking the easiest road possible (on paper), either, so it was great to see them pull it off.

This joke of a roster the US sent to this tourney just to comply sweeps the Europeam teams and takes the top spot of the group. What an embarrassment for the European hockey.

Right on cue, Latvia wins and USA will face Czechia in the Quarters.

USA is just cursed in this tournament. Top overall spot in the seedings and get a path that looks like Czechia-Canada (if they get by Czechia) to make the Final. Unbelievable. Meanwhile Sweden gets rewarded for a losing with a path that looks like Latvia-Switzerland.
