WC: Team USA 2025

My eyes are more open to this thinking than ever before, however when Connor, Matthews, Hughes, Eichel & Miller simply don't score goals, I am not sure what the answer is. That is way too much talent that didn't put the puck in the net.

It was mainly our "gritty" guys who produced- Larkin, Tkachuks, Guentzel, etc..

The defense is set. No concerns there. But offensively I just don't know what the answer is as we outplayed the opposition in both loses just couldn't get a big goal.

If everybody produced like we wanted them to, we would've averaged 8 goals a game.

I would think asking for maybe 1 of the top 4 or 5 offensive players we brought to score a single goal isn't asking a lot..

Did Canada's top 4-5 guys score a goal? I think we know that answer.

The more I see of Caufield the more I believe he belongs on the Olympic team. He really needs to come once again at the WC this year. He will be too hard to leave off with his goal scoring ability and repeated showing up for the WC.

Last year they brought Smith and Leonard even though they were the 13th and 14th forwards. They should bring Leonard and Buium at least, and Smith should have a scoring role this year.

Too bad we kind of went about it the wrong way. I’m not going to take anything away from the fire and passion of our players, but perhaps their energy would have been better to redirect away from trying to play tough guy so much. I will say though that it was a refreshing thing to see considering how it seems like we half ass it at the world championships, and might as well have not bothered even showing up for the 2016 World Cup or 2014 bronze medal game.

All of them might be too much. But it would be Exotic to watch. Better than bringing career AHLers like Grimaldi.

A big problem with our ability to compete at the world championships is also that of all the players available, a decent chunk of them get invited and decline. Maybe with NHL players set to be available for the Olympics next year, there won’t be as many players declining an invite, but there will still be a few.

That's a Gold medal contender right there. Defense isn't deep but very mobile. I would add Alex Vlasic and Frank Nazar to this team from the Hawks. Both should be locks to show up.

That offense would be one of the best ever to be sent by US. Nothing needs to be said about that goaltending trio. That would be amazing.

This should be a very realistic group to go. A number of bubble players that need to step up.
