Even if Greiss hasn't performed that well when playing for the national team, I don't see why would he suddenly be so much worse when donning the German jersey. Greiss would be a great addition.

The combination of bad play and off-ice controversy has made his contribution deeply negative so far, I don't think there's any player that would be a bigger risk than he is.

For that reason I believe Söderholm will invite Dennis Seidenberg as well, to at least test him and maybe even bring him vs. the U.S. on tuesday, before he comes to a final conclusion.

Söderholm said that this is not an option so we can forget about Dennis.

Not to deviate from WC discussion, but what would Germany’s absolute ‘A’ roster look like?...retired nationals included. Thanks in advance.

@Hanji:

For me it'd include defenders like Christian Ehrhoff, Christoph Schubert, Sascha Goc, Mirko Lüdemann and Jan Benda (D/C) in their prime, and forwards like Marcel Goc, Patrick Reimer, Felix Schütz, Thomas Greilinger, Marco Sturm, Jochen Hecht, Len Soccio, Benoit Doucet, Gerd Truntschka and Dieter Hegen. In goal, likely Olie Kolzig and Helmut de Raaf.

And you sir forgot Kühnhackl senior

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.
I meant the current ‘A’ team, with retired internationals like (so Ive read) guys like Gogulla and Barta? Macek in N.A.?

Ahh, you meant active players? Then I'd say @Albatros is right - not much different.
Macek - yes, Gogulla and Barta - no. I'd still take Reimer. On defense, as I earlier wrote - Weber for quick transition and zone entry, and, depending on his shape - D.Seidenberg - to mentor Moritz Seider, and last-but-not-least someone who can shoot from the point, like Hördler.

Actually we'd be quiet solid at center if everyone was available/ didn't retire.
1. Drai
2. Kahun
3. Goc
4. Sturm

That would even fit playing styles. Goc is a good face of guy and Sturm is a reliable physicly strong center. Perfect fit for a checking line

He didn't state it as clearly as this, but it doesn't look too good for Dennis, I know. :(
We can get him with us regardless (not as a player) same way we had Poldi on our World Cup team.
you need a fun, relaxing presence in the team.

I think greiss would be a great addition.
And i think what ever happend off-ice is forgotten and he can be sure that the fans don't care (i don't know what he said or he did, so i don't care).
But Grubi would be awesome too, if he is willing to play after such a long season.
Greiss is more rested and did not play that much games.

It's not so much the fans but the media, both Greiss and the DEB dealt with the issue very badly and surely nothing has been forgiven or forgotten by the press. One wrong move of the same sort and it's back in the headlines.

With or without them, this team is still worth to watch it. I would say, quality of roster is on the same level like Finland or Slovakia. I guess that those three teams will fight for last two QFs spots in the group.
