I would like to have seen Maccelli and Pärssinen in the team. Any idea if they were asked or why they declined? Also Välimäki and even Kupari (home town boy :)).
Macceli doesn't have a contract if I remember well. Pärssinen would have been nice but we haven't heard any reason. First real season in the NHL for him and his game was going up and down quite a lot so he might wanna rest and train

Where have you red that he didnt get invited? i havent seen anything like that.

All i have read is that he would like to join, but his season ended weeks ago and still he's not on the team. No reported injury either so not getting an invite is by far the most logical explanation.

Why do you think Kemiläinen is good enough to join team Finland? or Riikola, for that matter.

Seppälä, sure, if theres no better, but somethings gone bad if Kemiläinen and Riikola are in.

And i ask you again. Who from the current camp roster would you take instead?

Pärssinen would get the chance to center an amazing line, no matter how it would be diced. Maybe he is lured out of the shadows by the prospect of playing with Rantanen and/or Laine?

If Valimaki wants to be in the team and isn't, then maybe the team has some pre-agreements with the Dallas defensemen in case they get eliminated on 2nd round. Other than that I don't get how Valimaki isn't in. Unless he doesn't want to go and that's his prerogative.

We hear this every year and then after the final people are yelling Mörkö on the streets.:)

I don't remember him having a big role last year, correct me if I'm wrong. He was still usable but now he's even older and there are so many younger, better options.

I can't wait to see Rantanen and Kakko playing for the Finnish NT. Both are world class players, Rantanen with a very strong season in the NHL and Kakko's season wasn't too bad too if I'm not wrong.
I hope only Rantanen is not too tired after the long season in the NHL. He played almost every game or even all.
By the way is it the first participation of Rantanen at the WHC? I don't remember having seen him playing once already by the men tournament. But may be it's just too long ago.

Last time the moose got loose was in 2018 and before that 2016.

Actually that article is now few weeks old and as i looked it up again his words were " Let's see but doesn't sound bad at all". So not a straight up yes. Just odd if he declined, since we haven't heard any news like we did with other players.

Mörkö is a weird one. Aside from the size advantage he's a pretty average Liiga player, but he always ups his game big time in the NT. Yeah he didn't score the winning goal or anything last year, but iirc he had some clutch moments again. Maybe it was in the semifinal or something. Anyway i think this will be his last go.

EDIT: Here's the Välimäki article.

Rantanen needs to carry the offense hard. Pretty terrible showing on the offensive end vs Czechs so far and in these practice games overall.

Yeah last year we had Granlund (and Manninen) carrying our offense.. so hopefully Kakko & Rantanen both bring a lot of offense.

Kapanen playing well again in the first round against Czech Republic. Larmi being good as well so far. That's promising. Let's see if it lasts
