It's about damn time. Ever since the kids around here have seen Nummelin wearing those ragged pants they've been tearing up their jeans, knocking over banks, and stepping on cracks on the sidewalk.

Oh the humanity! :shakehead
Thanks Whitey. At least someone has the sense to ask the question 'What do we tell our children ?' They look to us for guidance and what can we offer them in this world of torn and ragged pants ?

To me it seems IIHF is the UN of hockey.

Don't do anything to let the big bully change their rules and play by their own (Nash in these championship, NHL rules in the world cup etc.) . And then of course making odd decisions about small things.

NHL rules in the World Cup - World Cup of Hockey is a tournament run not by the IIHF but by the NHL or its equivalent and as such is not an IIHF tournament resultin in NHL rules and participation by "invites" (ie even if Germany is in div 2, theyd still get invited to the world cup (big market))

Exactly. Just like in the real worldl contra the theoretical world, the world is run by the US and not the UN.

No, if you make your own tournament you get to make up the rules. What's the big deal with that?

Just like if we wanted to, we could re-instate the red line in the SM-Liiga despite the IIHF not wanting to brign it back.

With the small exception, that we won't be playing in the World Championships anymore after that..

Huh?? Whatever rules we have in FEL doesn't change our status in WCH tournaments at all.

When the redline was taken of, the SEL insisted they would keep it til the end. IIHF threatened them that they wouldn't play in the WCH, if they'd keep it. Results are known.
