Yeah, Latvala was absolutely utter **** out there. He can’t skate, he isn’t a shutdown D-man, he can’t pass and he can’t hit. What exactly is it that he brings to the table? Just awful, the guy plays in Mestis for christ sake.

Honka in for sure.
Honka do also play in Mestis, but i agree for the most part. We need defensmen that can turn the play quickly, Latvala ain't so good at that. I say give Latvala one more chance then Honka.

Honka is puck-moving dman but he has big troubles in own defensive zone.
Honka's poor effort in defence was one reason why JYP assigned him to KeupaHT mestis team.

This finnish team is weak. Too much hype destroyed focus from the team play. Seen that before too many times.

I do not think the things look quite as dire as some make it sound. Sweden looked overpowering at the beginning, but that could be a matter of better preparation (Ahokas?) or nerves. Second half of the game was more or less even. Of course, there was too much perimiter play, much like last year (Ahokas?). That changed over the course of the game, so there is some hope there. Quite a few players actually looked quite strong in my opinion. At forward I would rank top performance 1. Kakko 2. Lundell/Kupari 3. Heponiemi. It did look like both Nyman and Tolvanen were dragging their lines down, so they must either step up, or Ahokas must make adjustments. I would say that already mentioned Talvitie can be promoted, I also thought Ylonen showed some nice speed, so he could also be a candidate. On defense I would rank performances as 1. Vaakanainen 2. Jokiharju 3. Laaksonen

My biggest ask is to bench Engberg. It was so annoying to watch that undisciplined crap from him. Try if there's more hungrier or more focused player outside of the line up who wants to play.

This one has been pretty much said already by others here. Increase Kakko's minutes by a lot please. I'd like to have both Tolvanen and Kakko in the same PP unit and/or same 5on5 line. I'm interested to see if they could have chemistry together. Could be devastating for opposition. We loose nothing by at least trying it.

Talvitie with Kupari and Heponiemi suggestion sounded good to me as well.

Hopefully UPL skips tonight's game and plays all the remaining games in the tournament.

Beside the undisciplined crap he played good, give him time. He has gotten his homework.

Finland have played only one period of hockey in this tournament so far. And we beat Canada in a pre-tournament game 5-2.

Pre seasons mean nothing.

Hopefully Kakko gets better linemates one day.

This is a perfekt game to get Kakko going. Let him play big minutes today, let some of the already assigned "TOP 3" rest and play like 10 minutes. And hopefule Kakko have one hell of a game and then we have a beast for the rest of the tournament. He might be the best player in the offence, and I almost feel like he is the only one that can create something out of nothing. We need a beast of a kakko, Dont care about tolvanan.. He could be scratched for all I care^^ But ofc I hope he step it up.

Im fine with kupari and heponiemi but I dont see them as dangerous as kakko, I just dont

Why isn't Lehtinen's pass activated? The only reason I can think of is that he's ill or has a minor injury, and is kept with the team until one of the two playing goalkeepers gets injured. Then we can send Lehtinen home and take a 4th GK from somewhere else. Sounds ridiculous. Or is Ahokas just stupid?

What the hell is that powerplay setup with Kakko or Tolvanen rotating to the blueline and shoot the puck with no traffic in front..

Need to give Lundell and Kupari the puck behind net instead just playing in the blueline.

Sweden's tournament preparation, down to the details is impressive. Finland's is just poor.

Let's hope Finland is just holding their cards close to the chest for later in the tournament, but going from experience coaching ineptitude is the usual suspect.

Well if there's something positive to draw from these games:

Both Lundell and Kakko have looked way better than their respective draft counterparts so far.

The team is just painful to watch. Really forced hockey with very little chemistry or flow. In the SWE game it can be attributed to the opponent playing better and having great defense, but in the KZN game no such explanation exists. It shouldn't be that hard to execute a controlled attack in the o zone against them (not talking about goal scoring per se as the opponent goalie can be an X factor).
